Super User Darth-Baiter Posted July 12, 2022 Super User Posted July 12, 2022 i use a silicon tube to wacky my senkos. i dont use the clamp, but just thread the worm on. as it slides on, it plows the salt up and really dulls and lightens the worm. bass kill it. when i tex rig them, i try to rub them, but my soft office worker fingers dont do the same job. my zoom worms, i rub to get the grit up. am i wasting my time? 1 Quote
Cbump Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 I’ve never heard of this being done on purpose. 2 Quote

Super User LrgmouthShad Posted July 12, 2022 Super User Posted July 12, 2022 The “shaky head wizard”, my occasional fishing partner here, swears by doing this to zoom plastics. Not all plastics, he says. I do not argue with his success Quote

Super User Mobasser Posted July 12, 2022 Super User Posted July 12, 2022 Im probably missing something here. I always felt like a shiny sheen on plastic baits was part of the attraction. 7 Quote
Super User Bird Posted July 12, 2022 Super User Posted July 12, 2022 I never heard of it before but if you think it's creating more bites, continue doing it. The only possible downfall would be, by rubbing and kneading your Senko's of their salt, your creating more buoyancy which won't really matter if you're using a wacky jig. Zman Elaztech is famous for this. It'll outlast it's salt then floats, perhaps not an issue with Yam. 1 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted July 12, 2022 Super User Posted July 12, 2022 Nope. I fish baits straight from the package with no mods. I don't have time to fuss. 8 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted July 12, 2022 Super User Posted July 12, 2022 Nope, no point in it. Mike Siebert makes them perfectly. Buy quality baits, and trimming isn't necessary. 3 Quote

Super User Spankey Posted July 12, 2022 Super User Posted July 12, 2022 I have never done that to my soft plastics. Pretty much get fished the way they come out of the bag. I would not question what you are doing. Keep doing it if you think it is helping. I myself have been know to hang some crankbaits for a period of time on a tree branch, truck rear view mirror or the shed door latch to get them to fade slightly. Bluegill patterns for the most part. Call me crazy but I like a faded lighter version of a bluegill. 1 Quote
