What are you guys using as trailer for mini-max? I have a RI Little Dipper and not getting a ton of bites. Could have been a few off days… it’s been hot as hades… Baby Goat is one I’ve seen recommended? Others?

A 3 1/2" beaverish thing, and a fluke jr ish thing is about all you really need. I'm also a big fan of do nothing or rat tail baits. The right paddle tail can be money, but it also has the potential to fight the action of the blade, and cause it to be more speed sensitive, flipping it over can help.

I only use a 3 1/4" swimbait, kind of like a Keitech fat impact.

The mini max is my favorite new bait this year. I've been catching lots of bass and pike with them. I've only tried the 1/4 and 3/8oz versions, and the trailer has been perfect.

I got this one today on a 1/2 oz mini max with a cut down magnum menace

edit: I was fishing this 1/2oz green pumpkin mini max, trying out a ~3.5" swimbait trailer that I got cheap on sale, and it worked well. I tore up the two of those that I had so I put on the next most appropriate trailer I had: a Strike King Magnum Rage Menace, with about 1/2" of the body taken off, rigged in a craw profile. I was about to wrap it up for the day and this big gal bit. This was also my first time combining my Loomis GLX 853 MBR with the Aldebaran and what a great combo that was. So much fun.

The 3.75 size Big Bite Baits Kamikaze Swimon pairs up perfectly. Jackhammer on left (4.25 Swimon) and MiniMax on the right (3.75). Great smallie bait.

The zoom fluke, NOT the super fluke. I’ve been fishing the baby bass color fluke on the half ounce gizzard Shad mini max and oh my goodness this is the greatest chatterbait fishing I’ve experienced by far. I literally could not be happier with this bait/setup

Dude try the half ounce one with a fluke style trailer and aggressively stroke or yo yo it, like a jig or t rig but more aggressively. It’s unbelievable how effective it is ? the gizzard Shad color has been incredible to me and it literally can mimic everything depending on the color trailer you use.

I have some rigged with 3.5" paddle tails. I have yet to throw them, but that may change this weekend.

For sure. I tried a few and wasn't happy with any of them. Just the other night I decided to give the Do-It ES 3.5 Ripper a try, as I had just made a bunch, and to my surprise it's perfect. Good hard thump that keeps time with the blade, and even a 3/8 will run true at any speed. The fish have been choking it. If you make your own plastics, this is a must have mold.

I plan to give these a try when my mini max order arrives.

I’m a big fan of the hog farmer spunk shad. 4.5 inch on my jackhammers and 3.5 inch on the mini max.

Bluegill mini max with a baby bass “the fluke” with the tail dyed. The baby bass color is awesome because it looks good on almost every color chatterbait.

Is that the 4" Fluke, 4" Fluke Jr. or the 3" Tiny Fluke?

It’s just a 4 inch zoom fluke, not the super fluke with the split belly. It’s the perfect size and it’s a pretty thin bait so it allows the bait to stay down and gives the bait way more hunting action than a heavier/bulkier trailer. This combo has been absolutely amazing for me, especially the half ounce mini max fished erratically and popping the rod letting the bait sink back to bottom or close to bottom.

Funny with all the mentions of the regular Fluke because I put one on my mini a while ago but haven’t used it since I changed it.  I was using a zoom ultra vibe speed craw prior with no luck.

I notice quite a few mentions of the 1/2 oz size. I have couple of the 3/8 and wish I got some 1/2 instead.

I got all 1/4oz but I fish shallow ponds so this has swim jig like role in the arsenal.

My order came through and I have a few options tigger up to test.

- one is a Zman curly tail Grubz that looks JUICY. is the absolute perfect size for this lure. I hadn’t seen this one mentioned yet in the thread. Baby bass color with a green pumpkin mini max.
- I trimmed down a Zman GOAT cutting the first 2 1/2 sections off. The length now is perfect and it gives a robust “body” to the bait.
- Big Bite Swim On in the smaller size looks amazing. I have the Spot Remover with a flashy silver trailer that are a great match.

Well that’s mostly just me repeating myself but I’m just really happy about the success I’ve been having  on them, I’m sure the other sizes work well but the half ounce sinks like a rock when you stop it and it drives the bass crazy. This mini max has given me the success I always hoped the standard chatterbait  would, the regular sized chatterbaits work well for me at times and at other times I can’t buy a bite with them, I hope the mini max countinues to preform this well later in the summer and into the fall.

I can confirm the smaller Swim On is perfect for the mini max.

I’m trying a Zman Streakz tomorrow.

Mini max gets a nice thump but I do worry that the hook is diminutive especially compared to the JH. I haven’t had issues yet but I also haven’t hooked a toad.

The Zman Grubz works well on the mini max.
