Bandersnatch Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Has anybody used the 7’11XH for stuff like heavy swim jigs ? Quote
softwateronly Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 No, but the 7'3 and 7'6XH are perfect. I've gotten up to 2.8oz bacca burrito on them without much concern. scott 1 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted July 9, 2022 Super User Posted July 9, 2022 I have this rod but use it exclusively for punching. I think it'd be overkill for heavy swim jigs. 1 Quote

Might have been you @NorthernBasser, or others, but the 7'11XH is rumored to be quite a bit stiffer and beefier than the shorter versions. Making it sound like the perfect punching rod. The 7'6XH has turned into my favorite weedless rigged 6-7" swimmers and large heavy swim jigs. Perfect tip/backbone combo to sling it far and still drive the hook. It also doubles as my punching rod, but that technique doesn't play very often for me so it's currently more than good enough. scott Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted July 10, 2022 Super User Posted July 10, 2022 As far as I can tell, the 7'11" XH is rated for lures from 1 to 3 oz. Unless your tossing 1 to 2 oz swimjigs, I also would agree it's probably over kill. Quote
