Buddy from Texas pretty much taught me how to bass fish when we lived and worked in NE Missouri in the 1990's. Spinner baits, jig-n-pigs, t-rigged worms, Slug-Go...those were our staples. We caught fish. I learned a lot from that man!

I was out of the game for 18+ years while my daughters grew up, played sports, went to school, moved a few times. Got back in to fishing a few years ago and found this site...and all the new-to-me lures and techniques (Senko, NED, squarebill, drop shot, shakey head, etc.).

This spring I decided to go back, and concentrate on some of my old school lures....and they have been producing! Some very nice 2-3lb bass on spinnerbaits, and some nice 4-5lb bass on jig-n-craws.

What is your old school lure / technique of choice??

Yea, for some stupid reason I stopped throwing them...I'm glad they are back in my arsenal.  Easy to fish when the wind picks up and I need to work the trolling motor to stay on fish.

4" Berkeley Power worm. Motor oil color. Used to fish them every time I went out. Haven't fished them for years until this year. They still flat out catch fish

Senkos have been around for almost 25 years, lol.

For me, spinnerbaits, poppers, and spook type baits.

I have been doing pretty well with a spinnerbait this season.  Nothing that big, but good numbers lately.  I never really stopped using them, but I think a fair amount of anglers did and use chatterbaits instead.

I will also say that the conditions lately have been conducive for a spinnerbait.  Its been cloudy/rainy with a decent chop on the water my last 3 outings.

Bladed jigs got big and spinnerbaits got put away in the closet for many anglers. I throw bladed jigs but never stopped throwing the spinners.

The Silver Buddy is one I actually carry and regularly catch fish on. I break out the Mann's 1 minus &

Fred Arbogast Mud Bug when I'm feeling nostalgic.

I can't find my pink Rattle Trap, but I'll keep looking.

I still have Mud Bugs and 1 minus in my rotation. I also have a habit of buying them way too often. And I don't know anyone else who throws them.

I also love Heddon Baby Torpedos. Smallmouth love them too.

Any worm in any color as long as it's purple, Rebel Deep Wee R, Mepp's Comet, Min-O and Rooster Tail, curly tail grub, shimmy shad. I pulled out a Rebel jointed minnow a few trips ago and caught a bass on the first cast.

Minnows, worms and crickets
