Ben77 Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Can't seem to dial this baitcaster in. Anyone who has this reel can you please give me some better adjustments like brake, spool tension and drag? Something is off it's either to tight and doesn't cast far or to lose and I backlash I'm still new to baitcasting thanks! Quote

Super User dodgeguy Posted July 5, 2022 Super User Posted July 5, 2022 Maybe you don't have the spool seated. Did you pull the cover to tie your line on it ? First you hold the rod straight out and push the button down and tighten the spool tension knob so your lure drops slowly. You do this for every different lure you use. When the lure hits the ground the spool should stop. Next is the centrifugal brake with the dial on it. Start at ten and reduce click by click. Learn to use your thumb.cast with your reel 90 degrees to the ground. This reduces centrifugal force. Cast with your wrist not your arm. Don't force it for distance. The brakes on that reel will cast far without backlash and no thumb. IMHO they are the best brakes made and the easiest to learn on. 2 1 Quote

What number setting do you usually leave it on for the centrifugal breaks? For the drag do you usually keep it tight? Quote

Don't worry about that now. Numbers on the dial mean nothing. The position of the dial set to where you can manage the spool on a cast is all that matters while you're still green. The more confidence you get, the more you can and will back off from max braking. Start where @dodgeguy said to. Eventually you'll find your legs. 2 Quote

Drag has no effect on casting. 1 Quote
Phil77 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Try cleaning the brake ring with some alcohol then oil it. 1 Quote
