Ohioguy25 Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 I am sort of growing tired of readjusting the plastic every other cast, I even superglue the head but the other end near the point of the hook still slides down. Is there anything better? Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted July 5, 2022 Super User Posted July 5, 2022 You super glue it to the head and it slides down? I don't even know how that's possible. I glue my trds and have no issue. 2 Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted July 5, 2022 Super User Posted July 5, 2022 NedZone worms stand up fairly well, but don’t last as long as TRD’s... they do catch fish for sure.. 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 5, 2022 Super User Posted July 5, 2022 What kind of hook are we talking here? Sound like ewg or reg worm hook? For Zman if I wanna fish anything like Texas rig or dropshot, I use roboworm rebarb hook. For Ned rig with Zman much room head and if I’m gonna use superglue I just crimped down that bait keeper. Super User Cgolf Posted July 5, 2022 Super User Posted July 5, 2022 Have you tried the non floating versions? I haven't fished Zman baits in a long time. I would sell off my stash of them, but not worth the shipping to deal with it at this point. I use salted baits like the skinny Anglers Choice Wart hawg cut in half or 1/2 dingers, or other salted TRD type baits. I fish this the most in a river so I doubt the Zman baits stood up in the current. Also I would think the baits swim differently with the Zman a little tail up which may appear unnatural to fish. From another thread I think they are using the EWG hooks which I have heard the Zman baits don't hold well. My guess is the back half is maybe getting balled up on the hook not the front part sliding. @Ohioguy25 If what I stated above is what is happening, could you rig the front part of the bait, add a bait button (think that is what they are called) to the hook and then rig the back half. Then push the bait button up against the back half of the bait to hopefully limit the amount it slides. It might cause too much resistance screwing up the hookset, but may be worth a try. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Bait_Button_Dispenser/descpage-BBUTTD.html Quote

It turned out that he was putting too much Super Glue Gel on the TRD. A Very tiny drop spread around then pressed to the head is all that I use even with ZinkerZs. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 5, 2022 Global Moderator Posted July 5, 2022 Get some heads with a keeper and ditch the glue, you won't have any baits slipping anymore. SPRO has a pretty cool little bait. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/SPRO_Sakura_Worm_5pk/descpage-SSWSR.html I really like the 10,000 fish bait also https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/10000_Fish_Sukoshi_Bug_6pk/descpage-10FSB.html Quote
zpelletier Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Using the z man ned head with a wire keeper does the trick for me. I’ll leave the same bait on the same ned head tied on for multiple trips and the only time I have to adjust is after catching a fish. I actually have a harder time getting them off, the elaztech really gets caught on there. Quote

I get far fewer snags w the EWG Owner blockhead. Texas rigging has been the ticket for me. Quote

I figured the bait was sliding down from the head since he mentioned super glue. Carry on... ? 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 6, 2022 Super User Posted July 6, 2022 It is gonna be hard to properly skin hook Elaztech stuff. You can but have more chance of hook point get deeper into plastic more than fish mouth. I use o-ring bait peg to keep hook point align on the top of plastic. If you want more weedless you can cut slot for hook point to be able to hide it. Now I’m not sure how effective because I only use this just a few time and caught a few fish. I have that type of ewg Ned rig for Zman but have not had a chance to try it yet. I still find the regular open hook mushrooms head work the best.
