CAdeltaLipRipper Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 We're looking at a basscat right now. I know they were jd power and associates number one boat this yeat, but id like to hear some opinions about them. Its an older 2000 boat Quote
whoopbazz Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I have been fishing tourney's for 25+ years, and always as a rider. I have rode i n about every major brand of boat there is/was. Bass Cat has always impressed me in ride, construction and funtion. The only complaint a good friend of mine had was the all digital dash board. It is quite expensive to fix if it goes down. Good Luck Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 23, 2010 Super User Posted July 23, 2010 As I'll be in the market for another boat in the future, Basscat will be at the top of a very short list. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 23, 2010 Super User Posted July 23, 2010 Once you have been in the Cat family, you'll think twice about another boat. The first thing many years ago I noticed over Cats was their livewells, some of the biggest in the industry. Thats not saying there aren't other good boats on the market, Legend is one of the boats going strong in N. Texas these days. Now days, seems like alot of boat companies have had money issues, something you don't hear from BassCat. 8-) Quote

Im pretty sure the guy that owns ranger also owns champion and stratos, and they had a fire at one of the brand new ranger plants and that did a big hit on the money thing i think and they had to pick a company to let ago and im pretty sure they let champion go Quote
gar-tracker Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 My 2 cents I own a custom made boat made for rough water, Iv had since I had it built in 1992, its a STORM. Iv been in and fished out of every brand of boat made,I have yet to find anything that comes close to mine as far as handling rough water until I drove a Basscat. They are an excellent boat and if I ever buy another boat it will be a Basscat, a close second was a Champion. Quote
jdw174 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Money being what it is, I doubt I'll ever be able to afford another rig, but if I did, the new BassCat Eyra is smack at the top of the list. I've read comments on various boats over the years and can't recall a single bad thought about them. Quote
fishn hard Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 The cat is a great boat and they do ride good but not as good as the Allison but if I couldn't have a Allison it would be a Cat Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 25, 2010 Super User Posted July 25, 2010 Guys I know love their Bass Cats. Only problem I know is that the live well hinges are coming loose on one older model. I like Bass Cats so much that I have placed a "Pantara IV" and a "Cougar" decal on each side of my Tracker. Now to find the red numbers to boost the motor up to 300! I suggest getting the Bass Cat and also doing a compression check on the motor. Quote
CAdeltaLipRipper Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 The cat is a great boat and they do ride good but not as good as the Allison but if I couldn't have a Allison it would be a Cat I think the only good thing about an Allison is their speed. They hold every speed record in the book. But i dont think they're the best to fish out of Quote
fishn hard Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Have you ever fished out of a Allison my 21 ft XTB has the best ride That i have ever been in and i have owned Bullets rangers Skeeter and have rode in allot of others and mine fishes as good as any I will say that not every one can drive the Allison's You have to be a very good driver to run one and if you never have you will never know what it feels like when you nail the gas and it slams you back in the seat and your running full speed in less then a 1/4 mile See i drive a Allison because i can Quote

No seriously Bass Cat's are very well laid out, handle very well in rough water, and much attention is given to detail. Quote

They have a slightly different take on fishability than other boats when you look at the interior layout. Reminds me of the old days when Hydro Stream was turning out bass boats. Different strokes I suppose. Quote
Super User David P Posted July 30, 2010 Super User Posted July 30, 2010 I've been in my fair share of boats, only two companies I will ever consider are Champions and BassCats. I own a Champion, and my tournament partner owns a BassCat. Both very, very good boats. Quote
fishn hard Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I wonder if champion will still be the high as good as they are since Jenmar took them over they are a great boat Quote
