Super User LrgmouthShad Posted July 3, 2022 Super User Posted July 3, 2022 6 AM WOO. This guy roadwarrior tells me the best fishing time is 10:00-2:00. I have a very simple solution. Stay out fishing until at least 2:00 if you’ve got the time. 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted July 3, 2022 Super User Posted July 3, 2022 More about sun angle, and when it clears the trees or mountains or other terrain, not the time of day, early and late are both good, but this time of year 6 PM is still day time here. 1 Quote

The bass will beat those expectations down but you gotta start strong right? 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 3, 2022 Super User Posted July 3, 2022 For me, 6am, the main reason being that at 6am I generally have the lake all to myself. 6pm will be a zoo on the water. And I have considerably more luck throwing topwater in the morning hours than I do the early evening. Late evening and night is a different story, but at 6pm, not as much. 3 Quote
Super User Bird Posted July 4, 2022 Super User Posted July 4, 2022 I'll take 6 am over 6 pm because I usually start at 6 am and to old to fish for 12 hours. 1 Quote
Gregorym38 Posted July 4, 2022 Author Posted July 4, 2022 I guess its all just personal preference! Its hard to wake up but i like it better in the morning, less buggy as well and the fish are still shallow from overnight (i think) Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 4, 2022 Super User Posted July 4, 2022 Guess that would depend on my schedule. 1 Quote

Normally if I’m fishing during the week, it’s in the evening for a few hours after work unless I take the day off. 6am is a more realistic time for me on a day off or a weekend. 1 Quote

Super User WRB Posted July 4, 2022 Super User Posted July 4, 2022 Cosmic Clock and Bass Calendar I put together for a seminar in 1974 explains sun position vs horizon as a prime activity level within 30 degrees dawn and dusk, not mans clock. #2 ring I’d interested. Tom PM email and will send it to you if you want to learn about bass behavior. Quote
Sphynx Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 For me? 1800...because work starts at 0600. In all seriousness, in the late spring through early autumn, morning bite. From the autumn until mid spring or so, evening bite is typically more productive for me. 2 Quote
El jefe Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 I've had success at both but in the summer it seems like in the morning, as the day goes on the fishing gets worse.... in the evening, it just keeps getting better.... ZERO proof to back this up lol. Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted July 4, 2022 Super User Posted July 4, 2022 Love getting there at 5AM and being one of the first boats on the water. Deer are drinking and eating at the water's edge, quiet as could be on the water with just the sounds of nature talking to you. 6PM it starts picking back up, but after the lake has been beat up with pleasure boaters the bite doesn't consistently pick up like you can almost expect in the early AM.
