So I've been messing around with this depth finder for a couple months now and still can't find the right settings. Been trying to get the archs but no luck. I can't even detect the weeds or rocks below. Help?

You can download and play with it on your computer. I liked mine the first year i owned it, then 2 months into it's second year it puked. Hope you have better luck with yours....

You should be able to turn off the Fish ID and get the arches.  I have a Fishmark 320 and a Humminbird 565, so I may be getting them confused, but I know that works on one of them.  Also I know you can turn up the sensitivity and pick up on grass easily!!

ok so I actually have the eagle fishmark 320.  You want to turn off the fish ssymbol id first.  hit "menu". Turn your ping up to 100% and chart speed to 70%.  Then go to "sonar features" and go to the "Fish ID"  section and unselect the boxes so you don't get the fish symbol.  I used the fish symbol thing exclusively during my most recent trip and I marked fish well, but  it's much less sensitive when using the fish ID than when not using the fish id  for detecting bottom structure and baitfish details.  I also used the unit once I detected the depth that the smallmouths were hanging in mostly I tried to keep my boat in that depth range and It definitely helped me to stay in the right zone to catch fish.  Hope this helps!

Also go to "menu" and set your sensitivity at 80% and you can adjust the sensitivity as needed depending on the amount of clutter in the water.  I was paddling my canoe in the fall last year and I was getting shitloaads of beeps and clutter on my unit . Before I had turned the fish id off they were coming up as little fish symbols but there were few  fish in this water I realized later that my sensitivity was too high and I was detecting ll kinds of debris so I turned the sensitivity down and this fixed the problem.

helms83, go to this site and download the emulator for your unit. You can use it just like your sonar unit to make adjuctments for practice.

The Lowrance site has the same for their products.

I never knew they had that. That is very neat. another problem I have is determining thermoclines on with Fish Mark 320. Supposedly you can on this one but I cant figure where it be, the water change of temperature or a graph of it to no what I'm looking for.

endless, are you fishing waters that will develope a thermocline?

The Fishmark 320 I used to have would show a thermocline with just the automatic sensitivity setting. I never had to adjust the sensitivity for it.

Actually to get a positive identy of a thermocline you need to check the water temp at the level the units indicates there may be one. There is plankton in the water that will look like a thermocline on a LRC display this time of year. If you are on the water all day, that return will change depths unlike the actual thermocline which will be at a constant depth.

I don't have a Lowrance screen shot of a thermocline, but this is a Humminbird color display of one last summer:

Here is another one with the sensitivity turned down some to get a more precise level of the thermocline.

You can copy one of the pictures and use a photo software to change the color to gray scale to see what it would look like on your 320.

Is this the Thermocline? Also like Hunting run is there a thermocline there?

Yes, both of those screen shots were at Hunting Run last year.

I'm going there tomorrow and will save some screen shots if the thermocline has developed with enough intensity to see it.

I saved a thermocline shot at Briery a couple of weeks ago but only at the level it was as I was developing a pattern.

From what the website shows on mine it should show in a light color gray scale, something like your last pic shows but can't manage to get it to show on my finder. I've been messing with the emulator and it don't show any on there either of what it might show. I know that's an emulator but I thought it might have it on there. I guess next time out I'm really going to fool with it or just seen what auto does for me. Thanks Wayne.
