TNBankFishing Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 I noticed while looking around a couple websites that 13 fishing has a number of 6’7” short handled casting rods. It looks like a M and MH in multiple lines. My question is does anyone have experience with these, and what are the newer/better lines in 13 fishing? I’ve never tried the brand but at ~$100 I’m willing to give them a shot. I tried finding information on the blanks, guides, etc and ended up getting a bunch of some guys YouTube channel talking about the rods. He’s obviously a rep or sponsored by them, prefer to hear how they stack up from y’all. Quote
Big-Bass Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Lew's made a truly short Topwater and Jerkbait Special a few years ago...like a 6" back grip and genuinely nice rods! Quote

Big-Bass Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 I think so. I still have a new Topwater Special 6'8" but it isn't going anywhere. You may still be able to find then online. Quote
TNBankFishing Posted July 3, 2022 Author Posted July 3, 2022 They still sell it in multiple lines, I’m very hesitant to buy a Lews rod though. Never owned one and the fact they sell them at Walmart throws me for a loop. Found a KVD style one at 6’10”, and a white one at 6’8”. Quote
Super User Bird Posted July 3, 2022 Super User Posted July 3, 2022 The Lews Rods that I own will never be available at Walmart. But you can't blame them for mass sales of lower end rods. 4 Quote

I’m not a novice consumer of tackle, but I’d be extremely hard pressed to tell you the difference between any lines of either brand. I can tell you the difference between all of the fresh water sticks from St. Croix, Loomis, Megabass, Dobyns, Abu, and even boutiques like Witch Doctor rods. Quote
Eric 26 Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 I can only speak on behalf of my Fate Black 7’-1” med light spinning rod. Although I don’t have a whole lot of time on the water with it I’m overall very happy and at $80.00 I think it falls into the price also. The specs are available on their website and much like you I was looking for a rod that didn’t have a extremely long handle thus making the actual rod much shorter. @bulldog1935 speaks very highly of his 13 fishing rods and may be able to add to the conversation. 1 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted July 3, 2022 Super User Posted July 3, 2022 My Omen Green is the least expensive rod I fish, and I would replace it in kind in a heartbeat. I brought it up again on this later thread, and came back to edit when I had more time to thank @Eric 26 13Fishing imports their blanks from Japan. Their mid-and top-grade rods seem to be the entry level rods that use Toray graphite, making them both amazing light and amazing fast. They put the rod blank first. They make up for it in the cost by using Alps components instead of Fuji. They also have one of the best warranties out there - if you break it fishing, they replace it. 1 Quote

Super User bulldog1935 Posted July 3, 2022 Super User Posted July 3, 2022 The Omen is intended for inshore, but I would use the ML or MH Omen in the same bass-fishing niches. Quote
suzuki2903 Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 St croix mojo yak casting rod has a short handle and is designed for tight areas. Maybe a option…. 2 1 Quote
