Non DC Met. I don't need a DC and the Met would pair nicely on the Loomis. The SD will throw baits down to 1/8 with ease so flip a coin.

The SD might even do well with less but I haven't tried anything under 1/8.

I agree that would be my choice if it between the two Mets.  Between the two choices of the Op the Met DC.

Met and it's not even close. In all fairness to Lew's they're also nowhere near the same price point. IMO Lew's doesn't have anything in their lineup that would compete with the Met's performance and longevity. Better comparison would be Curado vs Super Duty, but since you picked up the NRX I imagine you're looking for "more" than that to pair it with.

The current model Met DC is also getting a little "old" and will likely be getting a reboot at some point soon, so unless you're really wanting a DC the regular Met may be worth considering. I've had a Bantam on my 894 to better balance the tip with the additional weight and Mets on my 893 and 903. Very happy with all of them.

Lews custom lite will do anything a Met20 will. I know because I replaced my Met20 with one. To be fair the SD can do most of what the Met can do as well at $150. I love Shimano but they need to get on the ball with a true externally adjustable centrifugal brake system or go back to the VBS. I'm not trashing the Met in any way, it's an excellent reel but a more expensive reel isn't always a guarantee of better performance. And to the OP, if you want a DC reel go for it, they sound cool and the IDC5 on the MetDC is truly better than the system on the Curado's and SLX DC reels. If your wanting a Lews check out the custom Lite or Hypermag.

Metanium is a much more refined reel Over Lews … even their pro ti is good but I’ve chosen the metanium over them nowadays.  Maybe get a jdm metanium and save some cash that way.

I'd go SD. I prefer mag brake, and my three SD G's have been outstanding with the oldest now on it's fifth year. They got updated this year with P2 and a flipping switch on all speeds. Should be more durable than ever.
