Super User Darth-Baiter Posted June 26, 2022 Super User Posted June 26, 2022 the MegaBass seems like the perfect size to me. less than 4". that is coming from me, that knows very little about walking baits. I want to improve my topwater game this summer. any recommendations? (BTW, you all recommending the MB popmax appear to be spot on.) I dont mind spending a few more bucks. seems like I won't lose too many topwater baits. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 26, 2022 Super User Posted June 26, 2022 Owner Cultiva Zip n Ziggy is 3.2” long, 1/3rd oz, excellent smaller walking lure. Tom 1 1 Quote
RDB Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Lots of great choices…LC Sammy & Gunfish, Evergreen JT & SB, MB Dog-X Diamante…Ima Skimmer if you want something a little more slender. Quote
Scott804 Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Evergreen SB. Also, if you can find the silent Dog X Diamante, it is absolutely killer. For some reason the rattling one walks completely different than the silent one. 2 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted June 27, 2022 Super User Posted June 27, 2022 Sammy 100 Gunfish 95 Jackal Bonnie 95 These are my 3 favorite. Allen 2 Quote
Sphynx Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Spooks are good, lots of size options among the range, I like the Strike King Sexy Dawg too in both sizes, there's a couple of River2Sea options too, bubble walker or something if I remember right that can be great, honestly I'm trying to think of one I've fished that hasn't just gotten crushed, pretty simple lures really as long as it floats 1 Quote

It's just something about that little spit action the Shower Blows has that makes the difference. And a novice an make it walk like a pro. Quote
ghost Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Cotton Cordell Pencil in 3/4oz. Makes alot of ruckus and easy to walk. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 27, 2022 Super User Posted June 27, 2022 So far only 1 lure suggested is less then 4” long? Tom 1 Quote

Super User webertime Posted June 27, 2022 Super User Posted June 27, 2022 Whiplash makes a suuuuuper sick bait too. Quote
Dangerfield Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 I crush smallmouth on the Giant Dog-X, caught 12 yesterday from the kayak but I'll tell you what it doesn't fish like a traditional walking pencil. If you get one try the jerkbait method and from what I learned using it all day yesterday - they crushed it on the pause or right after the first twitch. I've had success on the Duo Realis Pencil 100 and Evergreen SB125. I've got the Diamante Dog-X and River2Sea Rover to try out. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted June 27, 2022 Super User Posted June 27, 2022 Nobody mentioned the Berkley J Walker which was a real surprise for me last year. 2 Quote
Lead Head Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Heddon spitting image is my favorite, especially for covering water or fishing schools. It can be walked super fast. Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Duo Realis Pencil 85mm weighs about 3/8 and the 100mm is 1/2. They come with great hooks and walk really easily. 2 Quote
