I can’t imagine it ever happening to me…..until it happens to me. I’ve said this about a plug before, yep, you guessed it. ;)

All the boats I’ve launched, and never lost one.

Not putting the plug in once was fun, esp. since I had taken a friends daughter fishing. A little while later she said “ why is there so much water in the boat?” I immediately spun around and made it back to the ramp just in time. We bailed out some, then ran out the excess.

We didn't tell her mom what happened…?

It was not a very busy ramp...I did see a boat run past up that river....and was kind of waiting for him.

But...I wanted to fish and took the plunge. Once everything was normal....I see the guy riding back down river and he yells that he lost his plug!

Legend has it he is still driving back and forth to this day

Had my boat drift away twice before, 1st time I was able to wade, swim out about 30-40 ft. And grab it, 2nd time it was already going around a point further than I would swim and ended up In a little cove. There was a guy in a van nearby who saw the unattended boat and came down to see if someone was in the water needing help. Told him it was mine he said hang on he lived a mile away and went home grabbed his canoe, came back and paddled me out to my boat.

I have lost one.  Fishing the Fox River and Lake Winaconnie with some friends (3 boats), we stopped for lunch at a restaurant on the river.  Let a friend tie off my boat and we went in to eat.  Current was a little strong.  While eating a group came in and asked who had the gold bassboat (we were in walleye country) and I said I did.  Well, he said it’s floating downriver.  ??. One of my buddies took me to it but we had to endure the snickers for the rest of lunch.?

And of course - guess what I forgot to do this morning when launching.

Yep - forgot the plug.?

Hit me when the auto-bilge kept kicking in and spouting water out the side...quick climbed in and put the plug in

At least I know the auto-bilge works. ?

Last year I gave a lift to a guy who launched his boat and drift away.  I was next in line to launch, and I had to laugh as he asked me for a ride.  The water was cold too.

I was happy to oblige, one day it might be me that needs a helping hand.

I had this happen to me one time while I was in the boat.  I was mounting a trolling motor on a jon boat.  I got up to go and get the battery out of the car and I was about 15 feet out in the lake.  The boat slid right off the bank and I didn't notice anything.
