Umphreak Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 Hey guys! A local lake near me that I fish often has a healthy population of landlocked alewives. The bass grow fat and it’s a great fishery all around however I’m having one heck of a struggle trying to catch the bass that are feeding on these schooling baitfish. I catch plenty of 1-2lb fish in the shallows but I’ll often see explosions of much larger fish offshore blowing up on bait. I haven’t had any luck targeting these particular fish. For one, the school of bait is constantly moving and my electronics aren’t the best. Another being that the bait just wanders around the lake seemly void of direction. They’ll be suspending over 50+ feet of water sometimes but I’ll find them in 10-15’ on the same day too. Any tips for chasing down these bass chasing schools offshore like this? Thanks in advance!
