Super User Way2slow Posted June 23, 2022 Super User Posted June 23, 2022 One of the U.S.'s top aluminum manufacturing plants has made massive cutbacks to its workforce, putting a halt to all operations for at least nine months, the company said on Wednesday. Quote
Captain Phil Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Covid caused a huge bubble in boat buying. Our ramps have been totally maxed out on weekends for two years. Most everyone who wants a boat now has one, so why build more? We are coming to a time when you can get a real deal on a used boat. Boats are the first thing to go when times get tough. 2 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 23, 2022 Super User Posted June 23, 2022 Ditto for Kayaks I predict (although not as bad as bass boats) ... The economy is looking a little shaky . 1 Quote

Not really a concern, unlike other things, that's not too difficult to restart. The next 18-36 months are going to be very lean, and these folks can see that, prudent business decision. 2 Quote
Woody B Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 If I'm reading correctly it's an aluminum "plant" that's shutting down, not an aluminum boat factory? I wonder how much aluminum used for boats comes from overseas. Many....or maybe even most of the boat factories shut down during covid. They may all have stockpiles of aluminum. Quote
