Super User Darth-Baiter Posted June 22, 2022 Super User Posted June 22, 2022 Egyptian stuff. the Eqyptian lore. hahah.. super funny when someone told me the 10th largest pyramid in the world was a Bass Pro Shop in Memphis. I had to fact-check it and it is indeed true! hahah. Has anyone set foot in that store? I think I have to go now. maybe buy a pack of mummified senkos. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 22, 2022 Super User Posted June 22, 2022 I was involved in putting the fishing department together. 9 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 22, 2022 Super User Posted June 22, 2022 I’ve been there. It’s really different from his other stores. If you plan to stay the night bring plenty of cash. Quote

The sad part is that most folks probably don't know Memphis is Egyptian, or that Hampshire, Jersey, and York weren't always new... 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 22, 2022 Global Moderator Posted June 22, 2022 It's a cool store. We went last year on our drive to Florida. Best I've been to next to Springfield. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 22, 2022 Super User Posted June 22, 2022 Seen it from I-40 a few times. Never had the urge to stop. I have to be in the mood for a frustrating shopping experience before I decide to stop at BPS. 2 Quote

padlin Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 We stopped in a few years back, didn't know it was a pyramid till I saw it, pretty cool. Quote
Basser2021 Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 I've only been in there once. It's just like any other fishing store except for the pyramid and fish swimming everywhere. It was cool though Quote
Stratocat_Joe Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 The Pyramid BPS in Memphis is worth a visit. One of the things I've always enjoyed about BPS is the experience of walking through the stores and looking at all of the animal displays. I'm from the SW MO area originally, so I'm biased to the Springfield store as being the best in terms of the experience but the Pyramid BPS rivals it in many ways. I live in SW Georgia now and the Pyramid BPS is frequently one of our stops when we travel back home to SW MO. It's a great place to get the kids out and walk around a bit. On our last trip home, it was even my wife's suggestion to stop there! Here's an interesting article on how the Pyramid BPS came to be: https://www.forbes.com/sites/joesills/2020/08/26/the-unbelievable-true-story-of-how-the-memphis-pyramid-became-a-bass-pro-shops/?sh=5c82afb02ffc 1 Quote
GRiver Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 I’ve drove by it a couple of times but never went in, I’m always wanted too. Will next time. Thanks for the bit of trivia. Quote
volzfan59 Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 I've been to several BPS stores and enjoyed every one. I'm planning on going to the Pyramid store this fall. My stepdaughter went last year and really enjoyed it. Quote

Zcoker Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 That thing looks amazing! Never knew it even existed. Although not a pyramid, they have a big one here in south Florida in Dania, right smack next to the IGFA headquarters. One or the other, makes for a great day....and bring plenty of cash or an open credit card lol because always seem to buy, buy, buy, haha Quote

Did they now? that’s strange because I was down there not too long ago and it was still there, they also list the same Dania address on their homepage as their headquarters. Maybe they just haven’t gotten around to changing things lol Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 27, 2022 Super User Posted June 27, 2022 The IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & museum that occupied the first floor has been relocated to Springfield MO. The headquarters on the third floor are still in Dania. https://igfa.org/contact/ Quote

Seems everything is still there, meaning the building, the office, stuff like that, so it looks open for any passerby. I haven't been inside in a while, just Bass Pro next to it. Quote
Ravox Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Looks like they are trying to sell that IGFA building for some time now… which is a shame loved the museum and the building https://www.sun-sentinel.com/business/fl-bz-fishing-association-relocating-20180926-story.html 1 Quote
lynxcat Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 I lived on Mud Island less than a mile from the Pyramid. Cool area of town. Quote

Sasquatch Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 The ol lady and I have gone down and stayed at the hotel they have above it in the pyramid. Super nice place to stay. Quote
