I have a Lowrance X51 depth finder that just went out on me after 4years. Before buying a new one, I was wondering if there could be an electrical problem. I'm able to turn the device on, but the screen does not display. Even the back light will come on for a little bit then turn off. The sound seems to work when I press the buttons, but the screen still does not turn on. I've checked the fuse and it's still good. I've never had any problems with it and have never dropped it. I'm just curious if there is something that I overlooked, any suggestions?

Well, my lasted five and a half years and is doing the same thing.  Only thing different is the screen will come on if you leave the power button.  I sent an email to a Lowrance rep and he told me the power button was shorted out.  Either send it in for repair or buy a new one.  I was thinking of a new HDS and now have a reason to buy one.

It wouldn't hurt to call and ask if they have any upgrade programs.  Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't but the call is free.

Good luck trying to get in touch with anyone from Lowrance. They have the WORST customer service in the world. I work sporting goods retail, and they are beyond bad. You can try a hard reboot on the unit, but if you fo it will erase all the info you have stored in it. Hold the zoom in zoom out buttons at the sametime and power the unit up. Wait until it stops beeping and see if that takes care of it. Good Luck with the unit
