For the last couple of weeks I've dealt with what doctors diagnosed as a pulled ham string. Up on farther diagnosis it maybe something torn. To make matters worse I can't get an MRI until Monday meaning 4 more days of intense pain.

It also means no fishing anytime soon...yeah!

If you pulled a hamstring, you would know exactly when and how. While not impossible, that sounds like a bogus diagnosis. What does occur often, is that a minor injury which causes pain or discomfort will lead to a change in gait or mechanics, which will then cause an additional, sometimes more severe injury somewhere along the musculature. Didn't go to medical school, didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express, hope for a quick recovery.

If that’s what you have Gotta let it heal all the way or you’ll be feeling it longer than you normally would.

Nice and easy Pal, nice and easy!

Praying for a speedy and strong recovery.

Ive had several pains in knees , hip, back , and foot lately. They last a few days and get better. Hopefully that’ll be the case with your knee.

Catt I wish you a speedy recovery. I slipped on my wet boat deck last week and apparently hyperextended my right knee. No immediate pain, so I continued fishing ,went home and went to sleep. When I woke up that afternoon I felt like I had a ball of barbed wire inside my knee if I tried to straighten my leg. It's been six days and I can straighten it but when I lift/step it feels like something seems to diconnect/separate but no pain. Gonna give it a few more days before fishing on it.

Sorry to hear that, I wish you get well soon. Till that time you might take some over the counter anti inflammation and pain killer till you get there. I wish it is not sharp tendon torn(Ive got that few years back), Recovery on that takes 5 to 7 years. Wish you all the best.

Doesn't sound like a hamstring to me if it's isolated to the knee.

If I catch any fish tomorrow I'll dedicate the first one to you. :unibrow: In the mean time, well wishes and hopefully it's something that's not a big deal.

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes!

I hate crutches & pain pills

I absolutely know when & how, kinda ignored it the first couple of days. The last several days I can put zero pressure on it & the level of pain is unreal.

Merci Beaucoup Y'all ?

Catt, sorry to hear that.

the ham string is a group of 3 muscles and stretching /micro tear, of one close to the knee is common as we get older. Luckily it heals on its own providing we behave ..

The difficult thing is you feel better before it is fully healed and many reinjure it.

Hope you get relief soon

I'm not a good patient, I don't handle being immobile very well.

I don't handle pain meds very well, they don't really stop the pain, & I sleep to much.

The pain is one thing but the mental aspect is draining me. I can't even read bassresource.

I have put earbuds in & listened to John Stryker Meyers "Tilt".

Later y'all ?

Cortisone shot, scheduled for MRI & physical therapy.

Doctor was highly concerned that I couldn't straighten my knee completely.

Thanks again y'all

My Dad (87 years old) had a similar problem about this time last year.  He got his leg caught on a swing while mowing his grass.  It stretched his leg way behind him as he struggled to get the mower stopped.  His Doctor said it was just strained.  They didn't do cortisone because it messes up his blood sugar.   He Dr recommended ice, followed with heat for 15 minutes each, 2 times in a row.....ice/heat/ice/ heat, 3 times a day.  He also told him to apply "Voltaren" 3 times a day.

Hope you get well soon.

Cortisone shot reduced the pain 60% but what's left is still unreal.

I've dealt with back pain for 15 years but with this knee pain added it's mentally difficult to handle. I try extremely hard to avoid pain meds, they wipe me out completely.

Start physical therapy tomorrow & will get the results from the MRI.

Once again Marci Beaucoup Y'all

Knee pain is awful. I'm only 42 and have had knee pain for about the last 6 years. It got to the point where I started limping the pain was so bad. Wife talked me into going to the Dr a couple years ago. After an x-ray he told me I had the left knee of an 80 year old and the right knee of about a 60 year old. Basically bone on bone contact. I am bow legged and I played a lot of sports in my life (also led to foot problems). He suggested just going with a shot first to see how it helped the pain and advised to avoid any surgery at my age. The shot does okay and usually wears off in about 6 months and I just repeat. To this day when I get up off the couch I can count the 3 pops that my knee makes. He told me knee replacement was almost a certainty (assuming I live that long).

Get your knee replaced now, it's not going to get better until you have the procedure.
