If you're into the pretty colors of custom pours, Robo Ned definitely has the advantage there. Some great looking color patterns online that are available, which might either help in certain water clarities, or with the mental confidence in a bait for some people.

This is me…the pretty colors probably don’t make much difference other than in my head.  I don’t fish Ned’s a lot but when I do, it’s usually a Robo Ned in Aaron’s Magic, Ox Blood, or Peoples Worm.  I fish drop shots more often but in clear water I add baby bluegill and hologram shad to the mix.  It’s just a confidence thing for me.

Edit:

  P.S.   Nice fish

Couple of bags showed up today. Some observations:

1) They do float, and on a zman ned ewg the back half is roughly neutrally buoyant.

2) The plastic is very different than a senko. Feels like old school plastics before they got really soft and salty. Best guess is the # of fish per bait is going to be "plenty".

3) I haven't fished them yet, so we'll see, but my hunch is they will do just fine.

4) I'm most excited about being able to use them when I help people build kits. They can't stop putting the TRD in with other plastics or in the box, no matter how many times I say to put it back in the blue bag.

UPDATE: Received a TW order yesterday containing a package of Ned Senkos. There are 10 baits per package for $5.99, but I ordered during the sale and got the bag for $5.09. I'll be trying them out hopefully over the weekend. I did do a quick comparison between the baits in question mentioned earlier in this thread:

Left to right:

Zman Finesse TRD - ~2-5/8 inch; wt = 4.3 gm (roughly 5/32 oz) each

Yammi Ned Senko - 3 inches; wt = 4.3 gm each

Robo Ned Worm - 3-1/4 inch; wt = 5.1 gm (roughly 6/32 or 3/16 oz) each

More to come after I get a chance to fish them. I will add, I'm nearly through my package of Robo Ned Worms (just 1 left) and the 6-7 bass per bait has held up as a good average estimate.

I am a ned rig addict.  I don't know if I have ever, ever worn out a zman trd.  just keep'm in their own pouch and you are good to go.

Yep. They get lost to a snag long before they're ever worn out.

I have a ton of TRDs but like trying new things so I got some of the Yamamoto Neds in proven Senko colors, like Baby bass and Electric Shad.

Last update post on this  - finally got a couple days on the water with the Ned Senko...see details a few posts above on specs for this bait vs. others tested. Some of my observations after a couple dozen bass:

  • The baits definitely float. They sit about the same in the water on a jig head as Robo Neds, but when flung off into the water, they float right on top.
  • As mentioned, they do get flung off, but nothing like regular Senkos. I think it happened twice so far in the two trips, and only after several fish catches. In one case I was able to simply retrieve the bait and keep fishing because it landed near shore and floated, so I was able to retrieve. I assume the other is still out there somewhere as it got thrown on a jump away from shore.
  • Still early, but I'm averaging between 8-12 bass per bait, so better than Robo Ned, but about half or less vs. TRD. Being 3 inches long to start, it is easy to trim back a quarter inch and re-rig after it starts getting torn up. Might be able to do this a couple times even depending.
  • Also, since it has a blunt tail end, I was also able to just flip it around, pinch off a 1/4" from the tail to get a little meatier section, and then rig "backwards" and keep going after the front end got too torn up, much like a TRD - nice
  • Speaking of, I actually like the bait presentation a little better when rigged backward, so you don't have to necessarily rig it how you might think upon first glance.
  • Bait "action" or "shimmy" is more pronounced when rigged 'normal,' much more subdued when rigged backwards. As such, you need to pay a little more attention to rigging straight when forward rigged as being off-center or over/under rigged makes for a lot more swing or even rolling of the bait. Might make a difference some days.
  • Weighs the same as TRD and casts similarly also.

Thanks I got two bags of Ned Senko to try out. Just FYI because I’m a sucker I have to buy a few more things that I don’t need for these Ned Senko to save shipping cost???.

8-12 bass per bait sound good since I lost the whole rig after a few bass anyway. I don’t actually just buy it for Ned Rig but for dropshot as well.

Being long and skinny with good floating characteristics, it should be decent on a dropshot rig

Zman has a stranglehold on ned rig soft plastics and there's a reason for that.

Finesse TRD just works better than anything else out there. I get more fish on it than other ned rig baits.

That's always the case with me. I'll lose the rig before the plastic is ever worn out.

Login to say it does work with dropshot at least. Caught about 6 before loosing the lure. Durability not that of Elaztech but better than  3” Senko that I use a lot for dropshot.
