Super User MN Fisher Posted June 18, 2022 Super User Posted June 18, 2022 Despite DEET - best insect repellent I've found is Calendula Essential Oil. Just a drop or two at wrists, base of neck and any other pulse-point that's exposed (ankles and back of knees for those in shorts, inside of elbows if you're in short sleeves) every couple hours. Mosquitos, Black Flies, Horse Flies - they all keep away. Quote

Super User slonezp Posted June 19, 2022 Super User Posted June 19, 2022 Bring it on. Temperature extremes put money in my pocket. I'm on commission. I met my guarantee earlier this week. It's all gravy money for the next 2 weeks. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 19, 2022 Super User Posted June 19, 2022 Not to be a smart a##, but we barley get into the 70's here on the coast of so. cali..and gusty winds to go with those temps.. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 19, 2022 Super User Posted June 19, 2022 Yesterday the air temps were cooler, and it didn't get so hot in the afternoon. The water was still warm in the ponds, and the bass were not coming up on any topwater bait. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted June 20, 2022 Super User Posted June 20, 2022 Yep - it's officially too hot in Minnesota - this is as of right now. 106 Heat Index - stepping out for a cig is like stepping into a sauna despite the 'low humidity'. 1 1 Quote

Holy Hannah what a sweltering day. I was only outside for brief periods of time and I’d come back in with my shirt soaking wet. They said on the news it was the hottest day in 4 years. Wouldn’t bother me if this was the warmest day all year here. Looks better going forward this week now. 1 Quote

Last June my electric bill was the highest its ever been living at that house for 10 years. Its also lacked rain too, which is a little odd because historically June is the wettest month of the entire year. 2 Quote

"Yesterday both MSP and St. Cloud hit 101. This was the 67th time going back to 1872 the Twin Cities has hit the century mark, while it was the 59th day for St. Cloud going back to 1894. For MSP, this was the first 100 since Memorial Day 2018 (first in June since 2011) and it was the first 100 at St. Cloud since 2011." 1 1 Quote

Ya, we're talking the Arrowhead (extreme NE) or up by Lake of the Woods for the snow in June or August...but I've seen snow in September here in the Metro. 2 Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted June 22, 2022 Super User Posted June 22, 2022 I'm in a house built before my region got so hot, so no AC. it was 103 outside my home yesterday. thankfully, I have a white roof with superb insulation, so with some management with shutting down windows after the morning cool down, I can prevent madness. having said that, I am going to explore having AC installed. I can't see it getting cooler (overall) before I die. today the high is in the 80's. I'm taking advantage of it and took the next two days off to go fishing. 2 Quote
volzfan59 Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 It's been in the mid to upper 90's here in southern Arkansas. The last weather report I saw was predicting triple digits Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Think I'll just stay in the house until late September! 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 22, 2022 Global Moderator Posted June 22, 2022 I split some firewood on lunch break down at the lake house, gotta sweat while I’m still able. @volzfan59, late September is typically the hottest time of year in Knoxville, I’m sure you’ve sat inside neyland for a game or two vs the gators 2 Quote
