It's fricking HOT!

Temperature was 100 degrees out today with a heat index temperature of Hades. We're in for this for the next two weeks with the raw temperature being 100 - 104. I imagine the heat index will peg it at 110 - 115 or more.

 

It's also breezy on the lake, so it's like getting hit by a blast furnace. The air is hot to breathe.

 

I'm planning to head out on my kayak Friday night / Saturday morning around 2 or 3 am just so I can get on the water. I have another new Expride and some soft baits and lures arriving on Friday and I want to put them to use. But I don't think I'll be doing any daytime fishing for a while.

Heat index yesterday was 101 - Sunday and Monday are projected to be even higher.

Oh I hate this heat and humidity. Last year was the hottest and driest summer I’ve ever experienced living here, so I can’t imagine it’s going to be that bad again. Until recently it’s been quite nice this spring/summer. Highs around 70 and lows at night around 50 is my kind of weather.

Likely the hottest day of the year here.

Was fishing today and ended up jumping in on 3 separate occasions. 

Water temp was 75*........ Refreshing.

I'm working this weekend and Sunday the heat index is gonna be around 105. Pretty d**n hot for northwest Iowa in june.

It has ben in the mid 90s here this week and the heat index around 105. It is supposed to cool off this weekend and then get even hotter next week. I have seen them forecasting highs close to 100 next week. We have a shot at a very little bit of rain coming in Friday.

 

As far as what @MN Fisher said as much as I hate the heat I will keep it if he will keep his cold and snow up there. LOL

You can dress for the cold, you can’t do that with the heat. I’ve broken a sweat in -10 temps. I’ve never froze my butt off in 100* temps.

You can always add layers if you're still cold,

There's a limit to how much you can take off to stay cool - it's called 'Birthday Suit'...and yes, I've gone down that far and STILL been too warm.

Well the storms came through today dumping heavy rain and a lot of wind. Knocked our electric out for about six hours. Got the generator out and ran it to keep the refrigerators going so we didn't lose any food. It was 82* in the house when I finally got the cooling back on.

I got hit by the storms as well - literally. A big tree branch broke off and took out the gutters and the edge of the roof. There's a bit of a leak into the kitchen, but everyone is safe.

Heat, hot, hell fire, we get it all. It's not so much the temperature but the humidity that makes it bad. I think it was 72% yesterday. The Summer Solstice is right around the corner, we are still in Spring.

Pft…72% humidity is child’s play. 80-90+ is standard for Memphis summers. It can be high 80s or 90s and still just be absolutely stifling. And flying in that thick air makes the mosquitoes stronger…

Whew, that sounds awful. I was cleaning the pool last night and thought a bird landed on me, nope, just a mosquito. They are thick around here.

The DynaTrap is VERY effective, but the attractant packages are outrageous. 

I buy them anyhow...
