Wprich Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Best 3 1)Stick baits Wacky or Neko 2)Texas rigged brush hawgs or lizards 3)tie Finesse paddletails/shaky head Worst 3 Spinnerbait -I've caught 3 fish ever on a spinnerbait hopefully they changes in the near future Hard topwaters -just don't give them much effort any more Cranks-used to be a go to especially a redeye shad in spring but been a rough go with them last couple years Honorable mention Jigs and chatterbaits-decided to give them both a dedicated effort this year and have definitely been productive and will be in rotation going forward. Caught 3 of my biggest 5 this year so far on a jig. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted June 18, 2022 Super User Posted June 18, 2022 I have confidence in everything except two lures that seem to be favorites here. Chatterbait- I know it should work but for some reason I can't catch anything on it? Whooper plopper- A single piece of grass in the water from someone who moved their lawn the week before will stop the blade. This has frustrated me to the point I don't even carry one anymore. A Tiny torpedo can have a 3' long limb stuck on the back hook and the blade still spins. I guess everything comes down to where you are fishing? The past month my best baits have been; spinnerbait, fluke, crankbait , and the Ned baits that look like a tiny RI beaver. Allen 1 Quote

padlin Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 I fish fairly shallow New England ponds exclusively Best T rigged creature baits spinners like Mepps Worst All the rest, creature baits work so well for me I go back to them pretty quick when trying other lures. It's all in the confidence for me. I could easily get away with only carrying 2 creature baits in 2 colors in 2 sizes, and leave everything else at home, but it would get boring. Quote
keagbassr Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 3 best : spinnerbait Buzzbait Punch rig double wide beaver 3 worst : lipless cranks Any crankbait that runs deeper than 3 ft. Any rigged soft plastic with a sink rate of less than 5 ft. Per second Quote
BayouSlide Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 I normally carry a wide variety of lures and have taken at least one fish on nearly every type. Fish mostly muddy lakes, bayous and canals, seldom in water over 8 ft. deep, most often under 4 ft. Too close to list only three, so I've listed five, six under least productive. Considering all that, in no particular order: Most productive (most fish): Chatterbaits Crankbaits Underspin swimbaits Spinnerbaits Plastic worms (especially on shakey head) Least productive (fewest fish): Top waters (a handful of fish) Buzzbaits (though one 5#) Big swimbaits (though PB of over 6#) Wacky rig (one) Ned rig (none) Punching (none) Quote
