actually, if the wind is blowing more than 6 and a half mph, and you use 17lb fluoro, and you hold your mouth just right, you might catch two dinks

The more carbon fiber components, the better. It will transmit the bites better to your hand. Similarly, the rod you use must also be super high-modulus. I've found in my fishing that sometimes it can be hard to tell a fish apart from grass. When I switched to the carbon fiber and high modulus, I caught two fish, which tells me that those things must be very important. Your reel also must have digital brakes. If you don't have a digital braking reel, you will surely backlash. Digital brakes are the future and I love them. Oh, and you gotta make sure that the brand of your reel matches the brand of your rod, because if it doesn't.... if it doesn't you're just weird.
