Rodney Smith Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 I am looking for some feedback on this model. I have had a Conquest 904C in the past and was wondering what folks are thinking about the 904C in the new NRX+. Does it fish more like a MH than H? Sensitivity? Balance? Thoughts? Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 13, 2022 Super User Posted June 13, 2022 Love this rod. It's slowly becoming one of my favorites. I use it as my dedicated jig rod. It doesn't feel like a heavy until you lay into a fish. Sensitivity is phenomenal. I never thought a rod would make me a better fisherman but this rod has definitely improved my jig game. 1 Quote

How much does the rod weigh and how is the balance? Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 15, 2024 Super User Posted September 15, 2024 @Fishydishy Not sure on the exact weight but it's feels light in hand for a heavy rod. As far as balance goes, I have it paired with a Metanium 8.x:1 and have no issues tossing a 1/2oz jig all day. To be honest, I don't get hung up on the balance/tip heavy debate. If it feels good to me and the rod loads like it should, being a little tip heavy is no big deal. 1 Quote
freelancer27 Posted Monday at 03:49 AM Posted Monday at 03:49 AM I am looking at the rod as a hybrid rod to throw mostly moving baits (1/2-3/4oz jackhammers and spinnerbaits) but should also be able to serve as a jig rod when I need it. Thoughts? Thanks a lot y'all! Quote
MRQturbo Posted Monday at 04:12 AM Posted Monday at 04:12 AM It's my favourite nrx plus rod... In my hands it's my most sensitive rod.. I use it mainly for 4.8 Keitech swing fat impact... Definitely more a 4 power rod... I have it paired with a metanium hg... Balance is not perfect but being slightly tip heavy has never bothered me... I've used it for frogging, spinnerbait, bladed jig but it's mainly my swimbait rod... 894c is better suited for jigs/trig as it has a stiffer tip and overall feel with 1/2oz baits.. 1 1 Quote

How heavy of a lure can you comfortably fish with it? I have some 3/4oz blades jigs that way over an ounce with trailer. Wdyt? Quote

I can't comment on the nrx+, but the conquest 904c is my favorite for a 3/4oz swim jig with a 5" gambler ez on it and that has to be well over 1oz. I also pair it with a met and find it just slightly tip heavy. I think there's a different use of carbon tape between the two rod series, but I'd think it's a safe bet that it would do what you want it to at a high level. scott 1 Quote

I wasn't a fan of how it handled a spinnerbait/bladed jig bc I have other rods that are better suited for them... 1 Quote

The action of the rod was a little too subtle for my liking... I've tried many rods for chatterbaits (883c, 893c, P5 javelin were too fast)... Expride 7'2 MH glass is still my dedicated bladed jig rod... Quote

I actually like a bit more power in my moving bait rods (currently use a Poison adren 7'4 heavy , moderate that is on its last legs) for chatterbaits, single hook paddle tail's and larger cranks. Sounds like you need an evergreen combat stick... If they didn't weigh so much I'd consider getting one.... I have a dobyns champion XP 765 cb that I will try out for 3/4 chatterbaits.. I normally stick to 1/2 only... 1 Quote

If you do the 904nrx+ and I think you own an expride 7'7H, one or both of those will work well for a 3/4oz bladed jig. Lots of kills and short handle turns, bumping bottom, 904. Slow rolling with reel bumps, 7'7H expride. My chatterbaits usually end up on these two rods. scott 1 Quote
