rangerjockey Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 For the slab spoons and Dixie Jet flutter spoons I use a finesse jig rod. It's easier to flip in the docks and not hit the roof , railing ect. Off Shore like that Talon Spoon I would go with a longer heavier rod. Quote

Dont think I ever caught a bass on them . Kroc spoons catch everything. You can cast them, jig them, or troll them. They come in sizes from tiny to huge, and another interesting thing about them is that in some of the middle sizes, they vary only in the thickness, so you can have 2 spoons with the same dimensions where one is almost twice the weight as the other. 1 1 Quote
The Baron Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 If the spoon mimics what they're feeding on, then absolutely they work. I caught one of my best smallmouth on a big Williams Whitefish. We were steel lining for lake trout in mid-summer, fishing a 45ft. deep feeding flat that comes up from 100+ ft. of water over a 20ft. deep rock shoal. I let the spoon down too early and picked up a dandy smallmouth off the rock shoal, likely there ambushing herring that the lakers were pushing around. 1 Quote
