Thinking about going to get the new Fenwick hmg in 7'2 medium heavy to use as an all purpose rod, but i notcied it is a moderate fast rod. I use alot of treble hook lures but also would like to frog and use spinnerbaits as well. Since I will be using about 40 lb braid and up, will I be fine on single hook hooksets? It will be paired with a daiwa tatula ct 7.3:1. Thanks for any feedback guys.

Yeah I wouldn't suggest that for single hook application.  I have the last gen Fenwick HMG moderate fast MH, and various other Fenwick rods.  Their rods' top sections are a little soft compared to other brands, which is a good thing IMO, but their "moderate fast" rods are a bit too parabolic for single hooks.  For an all purpose rod, I would recommend their fast action rods.

It should be fine with braid. Braid has no stretch. The rod makes up for it. Switch to 50 lb. Sufix 832.

Just an FYI. From what I’ve gathered on the new HMG rods, it used the same powerlux 100 blank that Abu used for their Veritas rod uses. The shops I go to for my fishing gear sell the veritas cheaper then the HMG rods so it’s a no brainer for me.

I agree. I just picked up a HMG 7' MH F. It's main job will be spinnerbaits, and it has that just right feel for that. On the slow side of fast with good backbone. Very comfy reel seat, full cork handle and tangle free zirconium guides. Exactly what I went shopping for. I expect I'll be very happy with it.
