Ok so I have some real time on the water with it now and there's a problem with the reel. Basically the problem is that I only have one of them. 1 4 Quote

Seems like 10-15' give or take. scott 1 Quote
Bass Rutten Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 @softwateronly How's she treating you? I assume the honeymoon is now over lol I was considering one for my 7'3" xh expride for casting 3/4-1.5oz swimmers and occasional frogging, likely .37-.40mm copoly line, 5.8/6.8 keitechs, real prey gills, nachos etc similiar I think to your usage. What line you using and are you finding the line capacity sufficient for bomb casting and fishing them effectively? 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted November 4, 2022 Super User Posted November 4, 2022 I bought mine recently for a 7'9 Alpha Angler Wide Glide swimbait setup. But used it for a week or so on an Alpha Angler 7'3 Chatterbound rod. It threw 3/8th Chatterbaits the same way it threw a 3oz Arig......these reels are ridiculously user friendly, and you find yourself almost never adjusting them like a high end Shimano when moving from bait to bait. This point can't really be stressed enough if you don't like fiddling with your gear once you set it up like you want it. Run 17lb Pline Ultimate Fluorocarbon. Bought it mainly over the Tatula 300 because I'm only really slinging 1-3oz baits with it. It will bombcast a 1.5oz Gantrarel or BD Shad, or heavier Arig as far as you want too....so much so your shoulder will give out before the reel, ask me how I know. It's an incredible reel, all the reviews are correct about them. That said, if you aren't needing the HD, the SV TW actually wow'd me more. The SV TW is just brilliant for $230 or whatever they cost right now. I use the SV TW for baits up to an ounce, have used it significantly at this point across a wide range of baits, it's the most effortless, user friendly, and smooth reel I can imagine. It's used for Chatterbaits 90% of the time though. You won't be disappointed if you buy the TW HD. 5 Quote

What line you using and are you finding the line capacity sufficient for bomb casting and fishing them effectively? @Bass Rutten I love it. Unfortunately, work has been eating up most of my time since early July. So I haven't really spent multiple days in a row with it. I have it on the MB TB and it's a perfect match for me. Feels made for that rod as a tweener swimbait setup. Love how smooth it is, the power in the larger handle and round knobs feels sneaky, and it casts great. I have 65lb maxcuatro on it, which I think is around .36mm. I have only thrown 6" burrito, 6" STC swimbait on a 1/2oz head, and a 1.5oz nichols spinnerbait and haven't caught with the Scottsboro. The reel has from the drop, cast and handled line with out any backlashes and almost zero fluff/line lay issues. Summer nights were spent fishing not fixing overruns and I'd call myself an average caster. I'd say best casts with the burrito are 35-40ish yards? Spinnerbait definitely less. On the long burrito casts, I definitely rely on feel for the tail thump in terms of moderating my speed to stay consistent as the spool fills up over the course of the retrieve, but I'd trade that for a comfortable set up any day over spool capacity. I have jdm 20 metaniums, and 18 bantams as my reference for quality reels and this slots in right at the top. Highly recommend. I'd think it would feel right at home on that expride and treat you right. I keep looking at jdm reels I don't need with the way the dollar is. Might be an expensive winter. If you're a hands on person and are ever down in the city, dm me if you want to meet up and put it on your expride. scott 1 Quote
