Big Swimbait Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 I was lucky to get a few ordered before they sold out. I like the Dark Sleeper as well so looking forward to a little bigger profile. As far as the Gilly goes, I have caught a lot of fish on it, but very few bass. The cats and the drum are all over it! Quote

One of my favorite lil guys to toss under some lay downs.. that’s where I’ve gotten lucky. Quote

Super User Jrob78 Posted June 11, 2022 Super User Posted June 11, 2022 I'm hearing they did one big run of Sleeper Gills and there won't be any more until the fall. If you find some, buy them! Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted June 11, 2022 Super User Posted June 11, 2022 And just like that, nobody cares about Mr. Gilly. ? Quote

They are already selling out fast as it is. The Hook Up Tackle actually commented on one of their Sleeper Gill videos, in the comment section, that they wouldn't get more until fall and a tackle reviewer on YT said the same, although who knows where he heard it. Thanks for the heads up @RDB 2 Quote

Rodney Smith Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 So I bought one yesterday and fished it this morning. The bite was very tough today. I got quite a few bites, but only hooked up on one. They were just nipping on things today. Hopefully the hookup ratio is good on this bait. Time will tell. The only that did take it just swam off with it. It doesn’t cast all that well, unlike the dark sleeper which you can bomb. I guess that is the bluegill profile. It is a fun bait to fish. 1 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted June 11, 2022 Super User Posted June 11, 2022 Got mine from Omnia today. Fast shipping, as usual. One thing I notice is the front of the dorsal fin is 'closed' if that makes sense (I'll post a pic). On the Dark Sleeper, the front of the dorsal fin is open. This should make it more weedless. But if it affects the hookup ratio, you could always just cut it. I don't think it will, tho. It's quite soft and collapses pretty easily. 7 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 15, 2022 Global Moderator Posted June 15, 2022 I'd second the suggestion to check out the Structure Gill. Very similar but more durable, and you can actually get them. Might have to bend the hook out slightly as it seems most have the hook pointing in towards the bait a bit, but it's an easy fix. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Savage_Gear_Structure_Gill_Swimbait/descpage-SGSGS.html#customer_reviews 2 Quote

Yes Fisherman’s warehouse,, pretty quick . I think they look and feel great.. don’t know about modifying for hook set.. Super User FishTank Posted June 26, 2022 Super User Posted June 26, 2022 Has anyone caught anything on these yet? I have been skunked with them so far. Also, the hook doesn't seem to be placed in the correct position. It is up and back, almost exposing the hook. The hook will also come out randomly, causing the bait to swim sideways. Quote
