It's probably not the best for me but I just keep a couple cold Coke zeroes on me.

I drink water all day long and well into the night.

You don't need to be out in the sun to require water.

I even have a case of powdered water - just add water and stir ?

When we know we're going to be on the water for a while,

proper hydration really starts the day before, and then simply keep it going.

This right here

I carry two 2 liter soda bottles, only they are full of water.  I learned my lesson years ago while working out on the factory shop floor with no A/C when the temp inside was around 90 or 95 degrees.  In severe heat water is the best thing.  Sport drinks will not cut it for me.

gatorade zero. or propel drink half before fishing then fill up the half with water..dont need to be cold. like my dad used to say when i was a kid when i would complain about warm drinks.... "hey at least its wet"

half gallon of green tea is also a good one for me.

I usually only fish til 9 or 10 when its brutal out...which in a normal summer is not very often where I live. I bring a 32oz water bottle every time no matter the weather or time of year and if its hot a large gatorade.

I fish in my kayak for 14 hours a day in the hot Mexico sun.  I drink diet coke or water when I get  thirsty.  Not very scientific but seems to work for me.

I always take a gallon jug of ice water as well as some bottled water and Gatorade in a cooler. I am bad about not drinking enough  water. I have gotten leg cramps many times while out fishing in the heat. A lot of times I can drink water and they will go away. I usually drink the Gatorade on the way home.

I get muscle cramps if I don't hydrate.  I use Nuun hydration for electrolytes.  On a normal day I drink ten 16 ounce bottles of water.  5 with the Nuun stuff in them.  I reuse the bottles.   I rarely drink a soft drinks.  The only time I drink tea is when I'm at a restaurant.  I've never been a coffee drinker.   I take a cooler fishing with WAY too much water and Nuun.

If you are drinking when your thirsty, your to late.

Proper hydration starts the night before and colored urine (not related to vitamins) means you need to drink more.  That said, those that go through gallons of water can really tax your kidneys.  For that reason drinking on the 1/2 hr while on the water will keep you probably hydrated

……additionally, covering your skin will also help with water retention and there are tons of option out there to help keep you cool

i would remind you guys that regularly being under-hydrated is one of the things that leads to kydney stones.   if you never had them, trust me on this - you DO NOT want them.  the pain is beyond what you can imagine.

There’s been many a time I drank from a wet hoof print and was glad to have it.

If I ever meet one of you fishing types that hasn't drank out of a hoof print I think I'll buy him a Daniel Webster seegar...

i usually fish 8 to 10 hrs when wade and bank fish. I drink a large warm powerade sugar free sports drink and after that its water.

Warm water as i dont waste space in my cooler for chilled water.

…..on a side note, freezing quart plastic containers and keeping them in a live well cools the water great in tournaments and you can also drink from them as they melt.

I've got a couple big water jugs that are probably half gallon each I fill with ice and water. If it's not as hot I might just toss some bottled water in but not a fan of drinking hot water so that's only the cooler months.

It’s also dangerous to over hydrate by drinking more then a gallon of water a day. Same symptoms as under hydrated.

Like everything use common sense.

Let me see if I can quote this from memory.

“If ever I meet one of you Texas waddies who ain't drunk water from a hoofprint, I think I'll shake their hand or buy 'em a Daniel Webster see-gar! How long you boys down there been mounted on sheep?”

Lol, it's a good enough line that posting it again doesn't hurt anything, doubles the chances that folks just skimming who haven't seen the movie might check it out

My wife got me a 52oz water canteen that is designed to keep water cold. It's not quite as thick as the Yeti's nor as expensive, but it works quite well when it's in the lower to mid 80s. When it gets hotter, I can drop in a few ice cubes and that keeps cold all day.

Then I'll take a Gatorade and drink that first, before it gets warm. If I bring a cooler, I'll bring two Gatorades, then I'm set for a day on the kayak.

One thing I do need to start bringing with me is some kind of snacks with me, because sometimes I go out with lunch and get fatigued as  it gets late.

What's your method for staying hydrated when your fishing in the heat?

I always make sure to bring plenty of water when I am fishing. The heat and humidity in South Florida is hard on everyone, no matter how tough you think you are, so it is best to drink lots of water. Another thing I do is I fish under trees whenever possible, since it is cooler under trees. By doing this I am able to fish several hours in high heat and humidity.
