Night Fishing

I have recently tried to start doing some night fishing, haven't done much of it or know much about it, and I was thinking about getting a night fishing light, one you drop in the water. I have seen some that float or drop down and comes in green, white, or a green & white combo, and I also saw one that rattles and makes bubbles. I was wondering which is the best and any other advice about night fishing.

Just go fishing.  I use bigger jigs and worms,  But have caught many on the same old stuff you throw during the day.

The lights that really help are the ones that can wrap around your fishing hat, the ones that have the powerful led light which are sold at bps and cabelas, they work pretty well and illuminate the shoreline, only problem is when the bugs are out they will swarm your face and have to go to an on off routine

The lights you are describing are usually for crappie or white bass fishing at night.  If you are fishing for bass, you would be better off getting a black light if you need to see better.  If you get some hi vis line it will look like a well rope in that black light.

Does the black light attract bugs?

I got the seasense dual light, turn the white or red light on, and it gives me enough light to see around the boat, but I didn't know if a white light vs a green light which is better.  So I guess if those are for crappie and white bass, and I'm mainly going out for Small or Largemouth Bass then I don't need any lights then.  I have read that you use a darker color lure or worm at night, blue, purple, black, that is correct, right?

I was out fishing the other evening, the bite was really good.

then it dark but I kept fishing.

Not only did the bite die, but kept casting into floating weed patches.

The kicker was when I drove my boat through a big patch of spirogyra y'know the green slimy stuff.

Ewwwwwwwwww........   took me almost 10 minutes to get that crap off of everything.

Time to go home.

Does the black light attract bugs?

Yes but not as bad as a white light.
