I was watching the new Star Trek series, and saw this interesting fishing scene on tonight's episode - someone on the production team is a bass angler I guess.

Is that Revo X? (Correction: it's a BPS house brand Megacast reel without the logo) Anyway, you need to put more line on it, pal.

Come on, who puts a t-rig and a spinnerbait on a hat?

A snap, a swivel, and a couple of split shot weights on a mid-crank.

Again with that stupid hat. They even put a frog on the back I think.

That's not what we call two-handed casting, man.

Alright...spill, you can't drop a tantalizing tease like that without an episode #/name lol

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Season 1 Episode 5. To be fair, this new series is actually quite entertaining so far, better than the last one.

I'm torn here. Often fishing depicted in movies, TV shows, and commercials spans form inaccurate to comical, both in terms of the tackle, and the angling itself. That being said, some of the "rigs" I have recovered from the water (and trees) boggle the mind.

I like that SNW is more episodic than Discovery - harkens back to the original...which I got hooked on back in 1966.

If you want to watch it - you need Paramount Plus...that's where it's streamed every Thursday.

Yeah, some might like the more coherent story-telling style of the Discovery series, but I prefer this "story of the week" style.

Sorry I forgot to mention it's exclusively streaming on Paramount Plus currently. I got hooked to watch that beautifully shot "1883."

Again, I digress a bit.

Everything but the hat looks pretty accurate to what I see at my lake. That lure setup looks dead-on. ?

I was going to say the same. Multiple split shots in front of the bait, snap half the size of the lure...yup.

You never know when you'll need the frog...

the dude teleport to that lake?  I'm going to venture a guess that the frog on the hat wasn't the most made up and unbelievable part of that episode.  I've long since quit trying to equate reality to stuff I see in movies or TV.

Bass fishing will begin with the lirpa. If no bass, fishing will continue  with the ahn voon (Vulcans have some bad ass lures!

I saw that episode as well. At least it's not as bad as some of those shows and TV commercials where someone is holding a spinning reel upside down.

I got Paramount+ free for a year when I signed up with T-Mobile. SNW is good. I also watched Picard and I'm catching up on 1883.

But if you haven't seen it, watch The Offer. It's about the making of The Godfather. I had no idea what they went through to get that movie out.

Gotta love when spinning reels are held upside down and are reeled in backwards.

I asked my wife to rewind that part just so I could see if I saw what I thought I saw. Told her the only wait they could make it better was an upside down spinning rod.
