I have the MotorGuide Kayak model with the hand held remote control. I believe it will also operate with a remote control foot pedal. I'm wondering if anybody here has tried operating it with the foot pedal while standing in the kayak? I would probably use stand-up bars for more stability, but I guess would need to test it out and see. It seems the foot pedal would be more convenient than the hand held remote, but maybe I'm over complicating things? I have seen brief references about people doing this but cannot find any in-depth discussion, so I thought I would ask.

I've seen people do it, but I've never done it myself.  It seems to me that you'd probably be best off with an extremely stable kayak if that's what you intend to do, as using the foot control will rob you of some balance.

Personally, if I were to try this, I'd rather have outriggers than a stand-up bar.

I have seen a lot of motorized kayaks and have never seen a foot operated via pedal one.  I can't imagine there being enough space on a kayak to have a pedal and be able to balance on one foot basically and work the motor and fish.

i don't know why you wouldn't want to just use the remote for a multitude of reasons one being ease of use and another being weight savings.

I don't use a kayak, but my son converted his to a foot control about 10 years ago and says he wouldn't want it any other way.  He uses his to fish the shallow bays in south Texas.

I thought about this for about one minute and then I thought about trying to stand on 1 foot while in a kayak that I have to shuffle my feet to walk back-and-forth in a very stable Jackson Big Rig.
