I hear ya!  I do some of that too.  Winter time stock is usually higher than it is during the open water season because there's less demand too, so its a good time to buy.  That is a really poor way of operating by Scheels in the winter.  They are missing out on a fair amount of sales by removing that all that tackle.  When I went last October, there was literally NO muskie tackle out.  And October is arguably the peak month of muskie fishing here in MN.  Get it together over there Scheels.

Whenever I buy stuff online, it is all about price.  "Ole Reliable" lets me buy a gift card at a discount and then lets me buy stuff on Black Friday, XMas, etc. discount.  Other places online have periodic deals that are awesome, and I buy from them when they do.  However, I am not loyal to any of them.  The only place I am loyal to is the new little shop that is on my way home, and let me tell you.  It is awful.  Limited offering on the shelves, everything is priced at MSRP, and anything you special order takes about 7 days to get delivered to the shop.  I still go through the trouble though because he does carry manufacturers I like, and that shop is part of my community.  Plus, I know the owner to be a good guy which probably carries more weight than anything.

They used to have the Covid excuse, but that's long dead and played out. Then there was the hacked cards scandal: holiday profits over being a decent company. I don't know what it is anymore. Nobody else seems to have issues. I do know that they've grown a lot and have a location in at least Georgia if I remember correctly. From my experience, the bigger the company, the more useless employees one has. Small companies can be picky and choosey. Big companies don't have that privilege and get some of the less desirable demographics of the country who think they're owed everything for nothing. When I moved to the city a few years ago I learned just how bad some "workers" can be.

Alot of meth heads working at fast food joints now.

last time i was inside ordering i was thinkin about walkin out seeing whom was behind the counter but it was almost midnight and i was on the way home from fishing all day and very hungry.

 

So i just stood away from the counter not wanting to see the procees of my food being handled and when my number was called i grabbed it and ate while driving the hiway home.

COVID staffing excuse is played out - they can't control backordered items, but they can sure keep their own house in order for in stock items.  Seems they are not.

 

Placed a decently sized order, all items in stock except SB 105s.  14 out of 60+ line items shipped.  The rest just sitting in limbo apparently?

 

Also not thrilled with the notification about card data being hacked that they sat on for MONTHS before disclosing.

I buy all my Meth.....I MEAN TACKLE at a very nice local bait shop, family owned.

They stock exactly what bass fisherman want.

Occasionally make a trip to BPS in the city.

I have a pretty good local shop ( within an hour) that I prefer. They carry a pretty good supply of rods (Loomis, Shimano, Dobyns, Daiwa and misc others)and reels (Daiwa, Shimano, Lews). They stock the typical common namebrand plastics and hardbaits, plus some proprietary labeled plastics (Tubes, Craws. Etc).

 

I rarely go to BPS/Cabelas anymore. Tired of them never having any deals on name brand rods/reels and WAY too much BPS lures/plastics

I've ordered from TW twice, shipping took forever. I've ordered from Scheels twice (thanks to @MN Fisher), Academy numerous times and BPS (most of the time). Scheels, Academy and BPS shipping are all extremely fast, usually within the week I order assuming that I order by mid day on a Tuesday. I'm going to look at Bait Works in Springfield, MO. I've heard that they are pretty doggone fast with their shipping.

I'm having delivery issues in many areas. Amazon has suddenly been "running late" with many packages the past several months and have lost some. Walmart lost my A/C. Glad they did. Ya everything is "in stock" until you buy it.

I place decent size orders at TW pretty often, and haven't had any real issues with shipping times. Yesterday I put in a fairly large order to stock up on some essentials for the BASS Nation regional in two weeks on the St. Lawrence river. I gladly paid for expedited shipping, so hopefully I don't get screwed..

I've gotten lucky and haven't really had issues with them either but they do take longer than most other places.  Heck, I placed an order with Scheels at 3:30 yesterday and had an email at 6:22 it had shipped already lol.  You can't get faster than that.  Their orders always seem to be the quickest for me.

Placed a TW order last Monday (May 30). Half of the order is supposed to be here this Thursday (June 9). The other half hasn't even shipped yet (all in stock). 

 

TW has the best selection of all the sites out there. But if I can get stuff elsewhere, I'll try there first. TW has really gone downhill.

My only guess is that that half is at the other warehouse and they aren't on the ball/are busier than the warehouse where the others were shipped from.

I live so close to TW.  Terminal tackle comes at me in one day.  It’s ridiculous.  
 

I assume rods are drop shipped and take just a bit more time.

I answered assuming it was TW.  However it wouldn't be the first time (today, even) that I was having a totally different conversation than the people I was talking with
