Would like some input from you guys or gals that use or have used the Curado 150 mgl vs 200k. I own two Curados that are over 20 yrs old and still working great. I am wondering if both have magnetic braking?, haven’t had an chance to check them out in person. TIA

Had a Curado k 200, great reel for heavier baits. Sold it to fund the purchase of a Curado 70 MGL as I throw lighter to mid range more often. The Curado 150 MGL would be the do it all workhorse now.

If you get either one, it will definitely be way different from what you have been use to and nice a improvement. The closest to what you have would be the 200k. The 150 is smaller but has the mgl spool. That spool will cast a little further and be a little more consistent.  I would get both, the 150 for lighter baits and 200 for everything else.

Thanks for the info, thinking I’ll go with the 150 first ??

I have 3 Curados. Here's how I currently rank them:

1. Curado DC

2. Curado K

3. Curado MGL

But here's the thing - they are all great reels. MY personal opinion is that the DC outshines the other two. And for no particular reason I prefer the K slightly over the MGL. But these are the three that I utilize most in my arsenal.

Honestly, you can't make a bad choice here. You won't regret picking one over the other.

If you aren't using real thick line the MGL 70 is the way to go, else the 150. The 200 holds a ton of line, probably more than you need.

Thanks for input guys, finally had time to make it to tackle shop. Wow, that 150 is nice! Stayed in the shop too long and found a rod to my liking. Hope to break it in soon on some smallies.

What rod?  And why didn't you pick up the 150?  Immune to the Bait Monkey?

My only St. Croix is the Mojo Bass 7' MF.  Found it at DSG.  Had the old Mojo price on the rod so I decided to take the savings.  When I checked out it rang up at $75, if I remember correctly.  Sweet deal.

Bait Monkey lives at my house, and does a fine job of keeping me broke.  :lol1:
