Edge rods

i was fishing today from shore, guy near was fishing with a Edge spinning rod by Loomis, i tried it and seems like a fantastic rod even moreso than my new Daiwa Tatula spinning rod. anyone used these rods and any thoughts, it was super light too

I was out with 3 of them today, 735-1, 733-1 and a 6101-1, all casting rods. They are extremely nice and fish just as well. Brian.

They are North Fork Composites (NFC). Not exactly what most people think of when you say a "Loomis" rod, however they are all blanks designed by Gary Loomis. NFC is his current company. From what I understand, Edge rods are finished rods sold by NFC, or some extension of them. I own 8 rods built on NFC blanks and love them all. The old Kistler rods were built on NFC blanks as well, if you want to look into some of their older reviews. 

 

NFC blanks are made in the USA.

Check out the company reviews before thinking about placing an order with them-You may get your rods in 1 month or 10 no matter what they tell you if you can ever get anyone to answer the phone. Great rods but worst customer service I have experienced EVER and many, many more agree.

i did read elsewhere about customer service... that rod is out.. anything comparable as light with a nice handle like the Edge

I have a couple black widows and several first strike rods from Edge.  Love them.  It does take about 10 weeks to get your sticks, but Edge frequently runs sales and it's worth the wait.

I have 3 and they are my favorites. VERY light and sensitive. After using them, any new rod I get from now on will have to have a carbon handle. I like them that much. I do wish they were available locally, but then the price would be much higher, so I dont mind waiting a bit  for a super nice rod.

[Lead Head]

Look for a local rod builder. A simple, lightweight build on a NFC blank should cost you about the same as an Edge, maybe less.
