Dogface Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 I have tried a few but I'm using Power Pro on most of my reels right now. I did put Power Pro Maxcuatro on a new swim bait rod. It is thin and strong but it does cut into itself on the spool. Sometimes I think it is too thin for the big baits I'm throwing. Let's say the jury is still out on it. Quote
TheAnglerAquarist Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 I like normal power pro, but of the ones you listed, Seaguar Smackdown. I heard it is phenomenal on spinning and have heard things about it on casting too. Quote

And I pulled off the J-braid I had on my spinning reels and put on yellow Berkley X9. I like it so far. The X5 is pretty good stuff too. i went with the hi vis x9 on my spinning rods and love it. ironbjorn Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 I've never had a reason to come off good old Power Pro, but generally speaking I don't care for braid and hardly use it anymore. Quote

I am seaguar team when it comes to fluorocarbon but Maxcuatro been my braid since it came out and I couldn't find any braid to replace it. I currently using 65lb and 50lb and 40lb test on few combos, I use leader 25lb 20lb and 16lb for each. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 26, 2022 Global Moderator Posted May 26, 2022 Smackdown is my Ol' Reliable, but I've really been impressed with the SPRO Finesse 8X braid on my spinning reels. Holds it's color and shape great, very thin, strong, no fluff, and cast forever. Bonus that it's available in pink for my wife's reel too ? https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/SPRO_Finesse_8X_Braided_Line_Lime_Green/descpage-SFXB.html Quote
Super User MickD Posted May 26, 2022 Super User Posted May 26, 2022 "Maxcuatro," clever. Max four, "advanced four strand," costs twice what 8 strand Suffix 832 costs. And the Power Pro home page doesn't tell us what its diameter is. "25% thinner than regular Power Pro." I'll stick with Suffix 832 and Hitena. Hitena Purelilne is thinner than 832 and most likely thinner than Maxcuatro. But who knows? Quote
Super User NHBull Posted May 26, 2022 Super User Posted May 26, 2022 I have had way to many unexplained breaks with smack down. 832 is perfectly acceptable. Hitena Pureline Is my favorite by far with a few Fins offerings in second place Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 27, 2022 Super User Posted May 27, 2022 Original Power Pro - small diameter to strength ratio , I know this line fairly well and it's easy to find. 1 Quote
Kelvin Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Varivas. 8 strands. YGK Soul. Hitena silky. 16 strands Quote

ACGOG Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Hope I'm not too late to this. YGK Soul Upgrade X-8 (the name is ridiculous) is by far the best braid I've used, hands down. It's tough as hell and is so incredibly smooth. The casting distance is also insane. It's a little expensive but it's lasted and I've had zero issues with it. It's also surprisingly not lost any of its color either. I'll see if I can take a video or something of the cast when I get the chance. Quote
