I debated with myself as to if i should write this. Yesterday my mom (89yo) suffered a stroke. Thankfully, it happened at the end of the church service, which is probably why she is alive right now. My wife drives her to and from church every sunday. If mom didn't go, she may have passed yesterday. 2 blood clots on the left side of brain were successfully cleared, but now the main concern is nutrition. Her recovery depends on it. I am asking for well wishes and prayers for her, ( and her doctors)if you can spare a moment. Thank you....Mark

She is in my thoughts.I had a stroke due to an accident a year ago May 27. I think the best nutrition to help with recovery for me was the high protein Ensure drinks, they brought me 3 a day.

First off, i want to thank you all for your prayers and well wishes for my mom. I am glad i posted her condition as your responses have really helped me in my time of need. We are bassin' brothers. She is still not responding to commands or speaking. She did have a little movement on her right side. Feeding tube going in her nose tomorrow, along with moving her out of the ICU. I will post on this thread (not starting another) as this journey goes....

A little improvement today, mom fed herself 5 bites of scrambled eggs this morning. Some response to dr's commands, and still unable to speak. This seems so insignificant, please direct prayers to the families in Texas, that is so sad and maddening...?

If I may speak for the group, there is room in our hearts for all of you.

Your pain is not insignificant. Great to hear the good news. And good news is always welcome to me!

My mom had a stroke a little over two weeks ago. It’s her second but recovering has been similar - little improvements each day. Little things like feeding herself are huge milestones, and very much not insignificant so don’t ever apologize for being excited about that. Hopefully she is on a good road to recovery. When you see them the first few days/week after it’s very jarring, and hard to deal with. Congratulations on her progress!
