Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 This gets a little long, but the first minute or so had me in tears. Hate to see how he launched it because he is obviously scared to get the trailer wet. ;D ;D Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 I would say he was ignorant to the fact. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 I was hoping the strap would break and the boat slide back in the lake. That would have been priceless. Quote
dave Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Imagine being the boat at the dock waiting to load... Quote
ksboy Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Kind of made you want to scream "PUT THE TRAILER IN THE WATER". Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 Geez, What a bonehead! Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 12, 2010 Super User Posted June 12, 2010 Like one of the comments on the clip site, I probably would have gotten out to help, or at least offer to help. Once upon a time, I was that guy, I was glad I was a boat owner, but everything I learned was trial and error and it got expensive a few times. I can remember waiting at a small ramp a while, 30 minutes or so to let everyone go ahead of me, so I could take my time loading my boat. 1 Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted June 12, 2010 Super User Posted June 12, 2010 Kind of made you want to scream "PUT THE TRAILER IN THE WATER". Like Fishes in trees (and most of us probably) I learned most of what I know about boating, loading, unloading, etc. the hard way. Most people make the mistake of getting the trailer in too far. Fortunately I've never had to wait on someone afraid to get the trailer wet. : Ironically it was raining while he was doing it! The thing that really gets me going while waiting is at a ramp is when people (like this guy) act like they have all day. I understand not knowing how, it is the lollygagging that makes me nuts... Zum Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Couldn't watch the whole thing, was getting to ticked. Not a buddy trying to load his boat either but the doorknob filming. I would of had alittle chuckle at the beginning but for sure would of tried to help him out.To say you wish the strap broke is pretty dumb, IMO. I'd feel like crap if buddies boat went off the back of his trailer messing up the new boat/motor,not knowing I tried to help. I'd know I'm not alone or thats what I'll get telling myself anyways. Zum, This stuff happens all the time at the ramps. It's very frustrating. I have volunteered to help in the past and most ignorant folks, especialy pleasure boaters, don't want it. So now I just laugh. He needs one of these Quote
NBR Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 There is a guy I wouldn't mess with. He's got to be some kind of strong. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted June 14, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted June 14, 2010 Um, actually, hate to break it to you guys, but the trailer is designed to load the boat that way. Notice how the bunks pivot up and down? That's the way they're supposed to do when loading and unloading the boat. It's not a drive-on trailer. You could break the bunks by driving the boat on. I know this because my dad's trailer for his old Terry boat does something similar. However, the entire trailer pivots up and down, not just the bunks. It's kinda cool because you can launch and load the boat virtually anywhere. No need for a ramp. They guy in the video obviously took his time with this, as you can do it relatively fast. But to his defense, it takes awhile to master. Toughest part is getting it started and heading in the right direction. Then it goes about as fast as you can crank it on. Done it many, many times myself in about half the time as him. Quote
Zum Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 So your saying he couldn't have backed into the water with just a bit of his bunks showing and loaded his boat, like a normal trailer?I'm thinking he could have but maybe I'm wrong. If you offer to help and they don't accept, what happens after...happens.Guess thats one good thing about being in a small town, don't see to many crazy things at ramps or other people actually. Quote
b.Lee Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 The things is it raining cats and dogs, if he were afraid to get the trailer wet I think he needs to see a doctor. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted June 15, 2010 Super User Posted June 15, 2010 my question is where is the help from his fellow boaters? if they really wanted to load their boat that bad, why not help they guy out? doing so would put their boat on the trailer faster.... Quote

RWHusker. Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I get as frustrated in waiting as anybody and yes I've offered to help and have always been turned down. However I'm betting and speaking from experience most of us don't want our first several attempts on the ramp on film. I've been in the water putting the plug in. Loaded and came out on the sideramps, had my wife throw me in the lake as I was moving to get situated. (that was a fun trip home from Minnesoata) Come on telll your stories. GO BIG RED Quote

nashontheriver Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 husbands and wifes quarrling at the boat ramp is always entertaining, unless you're the husband or wife. i watched a lady back down the ramp until the water was almost to the back doors on their SUV, her husband screaming from the boat. at least she was backing it up stright.... RWHusker. Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Watched a man disconnect wench and climb in Lund Aluminum boat and yes you guessed it on a roller trailer and yes again there goes another lower unit on the boat ramp. Quote
dmac14 Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 I work at a boat launch, It is ridiculous how bad someone could mess up backing a trailer in. There are people who take 15-20 minutes to get there boat in the water and then 15-20 minutes to take it back out. The best was when one guy forgot to trim his motor up and ripped off half of his prop, or the guy who had an axle break on the trailer. And then there's the people who complain about people taking so long, but then they take twice as long. Quote
