Hey all -

Apologies if this has been covered before. However, looking for some recs on what kind of reel to pair with a bass mojo med/heavy and dobyns 735c. Fishing mainly on the Potomac -snakeheads, largemouth, ect, and using all the usual suspects for bait.

Initially bought a couple TranX 401HGs but they seem a bit too big. Haven't actually used them yet tho.

Open for anything really. Want something that can stand up for cranking the fish out, but comfortable for all day fishing. Price really isn't a factor. Looking for a left handed retrieve.

On the affordable end there is the 7 gear tatula 150 or 200.  Both are the same size with the 200 having a much deeper spool but a loss of the mag z brakes.  I would go with the 150 for frogs.  The 200 is more of a large diameter line and baits over an ounce type reel.

Oh yeah the zillion hd is also awesome but should be phased out soon in the US with an already released new zillion hd.  It would pain me to see anyone pay $400 for a reel getting phased out and sold for $300 in Japan but thats me.

I would get the newest zillion hd if money wasn't a factor.

With the upcoming TW sale the price would be nice for an unflappable battleship of a reel with a good spool cap for 65lb braid, and which is very capable of dealing with snakeheads or whatever easily.

Welcome to the forum. The Shimano Tranx is a great, powerful baitcaster than is more than good enough for the biggest of snakeheads you will encounter. You can also fish with heavy spinning gear for big snakeheads if you want, that is my favorite way to fish for big snakeheads.
