I’ve heard the saying the pop r intimidates NO fish and yesterday I had a pretty good day with it catching smallies but then I caught this little fella….. safe to say he wasn’t intimidated  

??

Duo makes a tiny popper I like to fish just for panfish, it's a lot of fun even though the hookup ratio is pretty bad.

50 years ago fly roders had a lot of1/4" to about 3/8" cork & Balsa poppers with tail feathers. They were excellent on anything that saw them.

I was using 4X tapered leaders  With very fast / stiff actions. The hooks had large barbs that hampered setting the hook quickly.   With longer float casts in big rivers & lakes.
