Bartableman7 Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Every knot: mono, fluoro, braid to a lure...braid to fluoro or braid to mono---I super glue EVERY knot. Takes a few extra seconds and you WILL NOT see a knot slip or untie. Braid turns hard as a rock with a tiny dab. Great for those FGs and other linking knots. The line may break...but my knots never come loose. It's not a new idea. Just something I do for confidence. (A tiny amount. Don't make a mess. I use a toothpick to apply it.) Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted May 22, 2022 Super User Posted May 22, 2022 Tie good knots and there's no need for glue. 12 Quote
Big Rick Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 The only time I glue a knot is when I use Loon UV glue on my FG. And that is only to make the knot smoother and quieter in my guides. UV glue stays flexible which is very forgiving and never to my line guides. Other than that, I'm with T-Billy. No need for glue when the right knot for the situation is used and tied correctly. I do use glue to make my trailers last longer on my jigs, buzz baits, and swimbait heads. 1 Quote

Super User GaryH Posted May 22, 2022 Super User Posted May 22, 2022 I never use glue on knots but if it gives you confidence in your knots it’s worth using. 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted May 22, 2022 Super User Posted May 22, 2022 I use a dab of super glue on my knot when I use braid to tie skirts...outside of that I don't . Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 22, 2022 Global Moderator Posted May 22, 2022 I hate super glue, never in my life have I emptied a bottle. Typically it ruins not long after the initial opening 4 1 1 Quote

cyclops2 Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I use the Trilene Knot with a 1/2 hitch PULLED into the Trilene Knot to LOCK the knot. It can never untie. The harder the tension of the line. The tighter the 1/2 hitch is pulled against the Trilene. 1 Quote
throttleplate Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 last time i used gorilla super glue my wife had to use fingernail polish remover to separate my fingers. I carry it in my tackle but not for knots but to repair plastics. 1 Quote

If the line breaks at the knot, it'll have a little J at the end indicating it snapped where it wraps around the hook. Quote
cyclops2 Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I sometimes only wrap it 3 times. Old brain. The 1/2 hitch is now part of my Triline knot tying . I could forget the 1/2 hitch. Has happened. Quote
Mat_ski Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I carry super glue instead of band aids, but don’t use it on my knots. 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted May 22, 2022 Super User Posted May 22, 2022 I refuse to use super glue anymore, knot gonna buy it. Lol I get one or two uses out of it and the whole bottle turns to concrete, same with Gorilla glue. BUT, confidence is a major player in bass fishing and we become better fisherman with it. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 22, 2022 Super User Posted May 22, 2022 Can’t re tie a hook or lure eye filled with super glue. Tom 6 Quote

padlin Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 I'm another who has yet to get 2 uses out of a tube of SG. My brother gave me a big bottle, something like 4 oz, that comes with activator spray to use in woodworking. I refuse to open it cause I know it's just going to turn into a rock after 1 use. I did try it once on a couple knots, no problem with or without. 1 Quote

Junk Fisherman Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 I have had problems with my superglue drying up after a use or two. I've been using this one for over a month now https://www.amazon.com/Elmers-KG82948MR-Krazy-Squeeze-Applicator/dp/B011Q0R8YS Quote
Bass Rutten Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 This is the one you want, easy to control gel, has a precision applicator and doesn’t dry out. 2 1 Quote

Super User WRB Posted May 23, 2022 Super User Posted May 23, 2022 Part of fishing skills is knot tying. Learning how to tie several different knots perfectly takes lots of practice. When off shore marlin and tuna fishing I had a lot of time to practice knot tying. Joining double line to heavy leaders with binomial twist for example. Take pride in knot tying and re tie often.
