Andy Taylor Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 What type of boat do you guys recommend for someone with back problems, that wants to fish a couple lakes that are "carry-in only"? It must be lightweight and stable on the water, and easy on the back. The lake I would use it on most requires you to carry/move boat about 50 yards from the lot, down a path. We have an Otter kayak, but my body just can't take it. I was thinking of a one man pontoon(inflatable) but I don't know how durable they are, or the price for a decent one. Would it fit in the back of my mini-van if it was inflated? The van's floor is 48" wide. Or maybe a one-man plastic mini bass boat. Thanks for any advice. Quote
Under the Radar Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 http://www.seaeagle.com/FramelessPontoonBoats.aspx I built a dolly for mine out of a 1x12 and some old wheel barrow wheels, a couple of 10 inch bolts, some u bolts and some washers. These things are nearly indestructible. I use them to float the rivers in N. GA. for trout. I've got the 2 man and the one man. Nick O Quote
Andy Taylor Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks Nick. That's a LOT more than I want to spend. This is going to be my "second" boat, for occasional use. How wide are these when inflated? Does anyone know of any cheaper ones that would be decent? About $300 or less? Quote
bwell Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I dont know if you are going to get any cheaper than that man, I would start looking for used if I were you... Quote

Andy Taylor Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Is anyone familiar with the Classic Accessories "Colorado" inflatable pontoon boat? Walmart.com has it for $338. Sorry, but I don't know how to post a link. Quote
Andy Taylor Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 Canoes are too d**n tippy for me. And I have to stand sometimes to loosen up my back. Anyway, I bought a Pelican Bass Raider from Craigslist. Quote
