Gas has decreased slightly in price over the past few weeks here. I’ll take the small victories

Well, don't forget, I'm in So. Cali. where everything is priced higher than the rest of the country.

There is an easy option if you want to get back to pre inflation prices and double your disposable income.

At my age, nothing comes easy any more  ..lol

The mods said they would help you pack.  I’ll reach out to some local realtors.

It effects the drive time to a lake from an hour to about 40 minutes or less which stinks because most lakes around here 400 acres or less and pounded into oblivion. Pension check only goes so far and Putin price hikes killing everything, back to ramen noodles I guess

I am in the unique and somewhat enviable position of working 6 months out of the year in a place where I can fish, and they provide my fuel...so probably not unless the prices change the contract itself, which is unlikely considering what I am hearing through the grapevine.

It almost affected mine today.  Left the house with an 1/8th of a tank and after scouting offshore had to stop on the lake for gas.  $7 made me just put in a few gallons to make it through the rest of the day and kept me below wot.  So it didn't change my fishing but I got home at least 15min later.

Remind me to always make sure I got enough in my tank for a day of fishing.

$5.34 at Speedway is bad enough.

The price at the Shell station I normally use was $4.59 today. It is going to have to come down a lot more before I do a lot of driving. I have places close to home I can fish but they are not great places to fish. I have my better days fishing places a lot farther away.

We actually looked at homes in Texas about 12 years ago, but never did go any further than just looking.

Thanks for the offer, but at this point, no thanks...

I said it wouldn't.  But it turns out, it has.  I'm making fewer trips out to the farther off lakes.  I'm still fishing as often as normal though.  And to be honest, even though my local lakes aren't as good, I tend to catch more fish at them, simply because I know them better.

And I still make it out to some of the other lakes from time to time.  I just tend to do the hyper-mile style of driving that probably angers everyone else on the road.  I can get pretty crazy gas mileage if allow the car to slow down on the uphills and speed up on the downhills.  I've hit over 40mpg on a trip before, with a kayak on my roof.  My normal mpg is closer to 28.  So if you see me out there on the road, please forgive me!  I'm not trying to make you mad, I'm just trying to pay a mortgage!

as summer trudges on.  I like to amend my response above.  gas prices hasn't affected me that much.  we have the highest prices in the country probably.  I have adjusted everything else.  we got my wife a Tesla, so we drive that for EVERYTHING.  I only take my truck to my office on a short commute, and I use my truck for kayak fishing.  I can go 2 weeks on a tank, but I fill up once a week at the half-tank mark.  the California Delta is a 2 hour drive, Clearlake is a 1.5 hour drive.  I still go!!

I wake up early anyways, so I get to Costco at 5:45 am and buy the fuel at the lowest price available in my area.  pennies count.

Locally, no it really hasn't affected it much at all. Since moving to South Arkansas, I always try to go back to East TN to go fishing with, and visit a close friend at his cabin. That's not happening this year. I also like to make a few trips to North Arkansas to go river fishing for smallie's. I'll be making one trip this year.

Even with fuel prices coming down about a nickel, they are over double what we were paying. Nothing to crow about.

Reality check: gas prices have gone up all over the world, not just here in the USA. But no, it couldn't be that one of the world's largest oil suppliers just invaded a sovereign nation, oh no, it must be a conspiracy!!! Ya sure, a second shooter on the shadowy knoll!

Gas prices didn't force me to cut back on fishing.  Other things did.

The price of everything is based on supply and demand.  If you have less supply than you have demand, you have higher prices. Econ 101.

You learn in econ 102 this isn't always true.

Yes, it's a consideration as I'm shopping for our first bass boat.  I was always thinking aluminum (eg. Bass Tracker) but was considering fibreglass if a good deal came up.  Given the larger motor and increased fuel cost to push a fibreglass boat, I've ruled that out.  The last thing I want to do is finally have a decent boat and have to worry about whether I can afford to go fishing for the day.

I don't normally travel much for my fishing like I already posted but if I did and was set on going anywhere I wouldn't let gas price hold me back...within reason. What's keeping me close to home now days is my girlfriend just had pretty serious knee surgery so I'm trying to be around to help her.

We were already making progress towards reducing carbon emissions.  My 2020 Explorer SUV gets 30 mpg on the highway, That is nearly twice the mpg of my old Expedition.  My 75 Merc 4 stroke hardly uses any gas.   I am not in love with the internal combustion engine and I don't care what powers my car or my boat.  What I have a problem with is turning off the pump before we have a viable alternative.

Mine sips fuel too.  I go through about 1.5 tanks of fuel in 6 months.

We're starting to see some reduction in gas prices around here. I'm sure you're seeing the same.

This is due to two things, the US is  selling oil out of the strategic oil reserves and the world is in an economic slowdown.   "A recession is when your neighbor loses his job.  A depression is when you lose yours".
