Super User WRB Posted May 23, 2022 Super User Posted May 23, 2022 High gasoline prices directly impacts everything. Don’t matter how you get to go where you fish it costs more to live. Hard to put a price on peace of mind....go fishing. Tom 3 Quote

Excellent that's what I wanted to hear. When your tow your Ranger, how much does your mileage decrease? That's kinda what is nice about the F-150. When towing the mileage is basically the same as it without it because its such a big truck. Quote

All the lakes I fish are close, so I haven't noticed much difference. My Explorer is rear wheel drive with the ten speed transmission. I use it in tow/haul mode. These vehicles are amazingly fast for what they are. The Ranger RT178 with a 75 Merc 4 stroke is a light boat compared to a big fiberglass boat. I really love my little Ranger bass boat and it's all I need. 2 Quote
cyclops2 Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 NEVER ! Went ALL day with NO FISH of any type or size.....Also 53 surface temperature with no weeds sending shoots out . Just twisted black dead stalks. I do impulse things when there are no fish available. Useless boat rides do nothing for a Catch & Release guy. More dinners out with Gin & Tonic !! I like the fiber in Limes. 1 Quote

Went out this morning and the surface water temperature was 83 degrees. The wind was blowing, so it wasn't terrible. We are starting to get into afternoon thunderstorms. They can be nasty. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted May 23, 2022 Super User Posted May 23, 2022 I have read all the responses in this thread and it is obvious the increased gas prices is affecting most here since they fish for bass on boats. The best thing you can do is to improvise, adapt, and overcome, this applies for anything else in life. 4 hours ago, WRB said: High gasoline prices directly impacts everything. DINK WHISPERER Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 I'm fortunate enough to not be affected by gas prices. My work pays for my fuel and my wife works from home. Even if this wasn't the case, I'm not letting much get in the way of fishing! Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted May 30, 2022 Super User Posted May 30, 2022 At $ 6.80 per gal of diesel, yeah, it has a bearing on where I drive. Being on a limited income and all. Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 30, 2022 Global Moderator Posted May 30, 2022 I drove pretty slow yesterday on the way to Alabama, ran about 64-65 most of the time. That seemed to help with MPG trailering . I used to try to keep up with my buddies in a southbound convoy, but they like to push 80 and I can just see the fuel gauge needle moving when I do that Quote
Bassinlunkers Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Yes it has. Some days I can only get out for a few hrs I would pass on it because the gas prices just doesn’t justify me getting out for a short time. 1 Quote

Super User soflabasser Posted July 5, 2022 Super User Posted July 5, 2022 It does not look like gas prices will return to $2.20 a gallon or less anytime soon. That is ok with me since I fish from the bank, and do quite well. Those with boats will have to learn how to adapt, I suggest fishing places closer to home, and improving your ability to catch bass. This will help you save money. Another thing you can do is learn to fish a handful of lures to the point you can fit all the lures you need in 1 Plano tackle box. Quote

This is an easy suggestion to give when you live somewhere covered in water. When water is scarce and fishermen plentiful, it's not that easy. I have to make the decision to go to extremely crowded bodies of water with few big fish near by, or make more of a drive to get to better lakes further away. Some days anymore, I get frustrated trying to make the decision and end up just staying home. 1 Quote

Its not easy even when water is plentiful! I live in the land of 10,000 lakes and many more miles of river but almost all of the shorelines are privately owned. Meaning the only public shore locations you can fish are from piers, which are often full of people. Quote

Or shore areas by launch ramps and channels Minnetonka has a number of fishing piers - but I've also also shore fished at The Narrows channel, Coffee Bridge channel (by Lord Fletcher's), off the trail on the NW side of Tanager Lake (long hike from the parking on 15), by North Arm ramp and of course the south shore of Black Lake Quote

With EV being pushed on us i see gas staying around the $4.00 to $4.85 mark here in ND and Minn untill 2025-26. Then possibly down to $3.00 to $3.75 when pipelines can reopen and get some new refineries built. 7 minutes ago, Hammer 4 said: At $ 7.00 per gal for diesel, Minn,ND on july 4th diesel averaging $5.38 gallon.
