We're starting to see some reduction in gas prices around here. I'm sure you're seeing the same.

I think it will be below $4/gal after Labor Day here.  Labor Day generally marks the end of summer and peak travel season.  Right now its $4.55/gal and it was $4.79 at its peak about a month ago for unleaded 87 octane.

That's assuming a major hurricane doesn't wipe out platforms in the gulf or a major refinery.  Then all bets are off.

Kinda funny to see gas come down to about $4.30 a gallon here in South Florida and hear folks clap and cheer, "look how cheap gas is getting!"

I paid $4.089 per gallon for regular this morning in Central Florida.  Unless we have a hurricane or something unforeseen, I expect gas to go under $4 a gallon by the end of summer.  Retail sales figures were up in June.  Did someone buy more worms?  ☺️

Same here in AR, even though it's still double what we were paying. When fuel gets down to what it was on 01/19/21, then I'll be impressed.

Exactly. It's more of an irony than anything else. We certainly don't want folks getting comfortable with $4 gallon fuel. Yet even with these current prices, there's still ways to go about a discount, at least here in S. Florida. Local 7/11's have this discount using just a phone number. I never paid it no mind but decided one day, what the heck. Saves me .11 cents per gallon every time. So there are still alternatives to reduce even more, I guess.

We have a grocery store chain out of TX here. The have a rewards program that I take advantage of for my truck and my wife's hemi Challenger. Saves me about .10 a gallon. I put non ethanol in my boat so it's never cheap.

I've heard about these reward deals all over but no one that I know of in my circle takes advantage of them, including myself! It was only recently that I went for it. Greatly impressed so far. Every little bit helps!

Same here.  10 cents off/gallon for every $100 spent at the grocery store.  Every time I fill my truck up, I have at least 30 cents off/gallon accrued.  In the winter its often twice that much (or more) because I only buy gas in my truck about once every 45 days in the winter.

Ya - I do so little driving really, I usually have at least 40 cents per saved up by the time I need gas...last fill it was a 50 cent per gallon discount...currently have 20 cents on the card and my tank is still 3/4 full.

Sometime in the spring of 2020 shortly after the pandemic first started, I paid 10 bucks to fill up my truck that has a 36 gallon tank.  I had maxed out my rewards at $1.50/gallon and gas was $1.19/gallon at the pump so the first 20 gallons were actually free.  The cub rewards cap at 20 gallons.

That will never happen again in my lifetime.  Gas will never be that low and I'd be surprised if there was another global pandemic that shuts down society.

Oh man I miss the fuel prices of 2019/2020. At one point my cheapest gas station I used to go to out in the woods was 1.82 per gallon. Good old days!

From what I've seen was that gas/diesel prices haven't changed at all here in my area. Even a slight drop in price would be welcomed. Sigh..

On the way home today from work regular unleaded had dropped down to 4 bucks a gallon at the station about a mile from the house.  At the truck stop over on the highway maybe 5 miles away gas is still $4.69 a gallon.  ?

Wife and i are going to Chicago next week driving from North Dakota to go to the philippine embassy to take care of some business.

We are then heading to Green Bay Wisc to attend the Packers open to the public training camp.

Wife told me she is going to pay for half of the fuel cost, what a sweetheart.:romantic-dinner-049:

Well the second half of that trip should be good. The first half to Chicago, not so much.

Chicago does put a scare in me mainly because i have out of state license plates and may be ripe for a smash and grab. I booked our motel room outside of chicago by 70 miles at a place off the interstate.

The hotels, motels in chicago close to the embassy are asking an extra $25.00 to 50.00 and up just for parking.

That was a smart idea. Parking and hotels are ridiculous there.

Are you taking the old beater Honda or something more reliable lol

Years ago, the City of Miami put road signs all over town directing tourists to the beach.  This happened because out of town drivers were being robbed when they drove into bad parts of town.  After two German tourists were killed, some people suggested they install signs with a cartoon robber pointing a hand gun at a car to warn people away.   We thought it was a great idea, but someone in City Hall nixed the idea.   They eventually passed a law removing all rental car decals and license plates.

I took my wife to Boston a few years ago. We were going to splurge and we booked a pricey hotel in the center of town. I was checking in and they asked me if I needed a parking space. I did and then they told me that would be an another 250 or 300 dollars. After I recovered from my shock we left and found another hotel a few miles away with free parking.

The same thing happened to me in Miami.  I was told the parking fee is $25 a night.  I went to another hotel.

No one is going to smash and grab that thing from you in Chicago.  You'll blend right in with the locals there.

Inflation expectations create spending, perpetuating inflation.
