Thinner skirts, perfect weed guard. The hook to me makes it super easy to just reel and sweep with the hookset. Brovarney is next on my list to try. Quote
txchaser Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 A few things come to mind 1) line seems really light to me; might be getting a good bit of stretch 2) check your rod tip position, might not really be able to swing on it enough 3) the comment earlier about reeling down/taking out the slack is great advice 4) related to all of the above, it is moving, high chance the fish is coming in your direction at least a little bit. Different than the t-rig where you are likely setting into a stationary fish. Quote

Yes I think that is also screwing with me, with the fish coming at me with mock5 speed trying to kill the jig I notice that I don't hit them as hard because of the slack, I will focus on reeling down faster I think Quote

Shh...lol Also to the OP, sorry for the slight hijack...when I first started fishing swim jigs I tried setting the hook like it was a stationary jig on the bottom. Missed a lot of fish. I quickly found that if I waited for like a micro second and did more of a sweeping hookset as mentioned above my hooking percentage jumped to like 99% 3 Quote

Every other frog hookset ends in tears for me. 1 Quote
