I’m fishless with it !   I was in a thick grass spot.  I was working worms with varied results.  I wanted to see if a more constantly moving bait would trigger bites.  I needed total weedlessness.  So I simply unhooked my worm and threaded on a Kietech 3.8.   3/0 EWG hook, with a 1/8th tungsten worm weight pegged.  It looked awesome.   It looked like a swimming bait, and was oriented in the correct position. I keep trying and the anticipation when it threads thru very Thick stuff is almost intoxicating.    But no luck.  Is this not a thing?  One day maybe.

I’m thinking either no fish were around or they were being very picky. That’s what is so good about a Texas rig- you can put practically anything on it and expect results.

I agree It may not be the most natural presentation with it diving nose first but you def could elicit reaction strikes. Also a constant slow roll wouldn’t gain much benefit from a belly weight IMO

no its a thing. but i would say go belly weighted hooks because i feel like the lead being under the belly of the bait it gives the bait more head wobble and body roll. it might just be me but yeah. i only use owners. maybe try the flashy swimmer owner hook it may give them something to grab their attention.

It's a thing I use them all the time. I use it as a searchbait like it's on a jighead instead of hopping it.

Bass fishing is a long game. There's a time and place for everything. Patience, Grasshopper, patience.

As was stated keep with it.
If they don’t like it one way try another or move.
I don’t use that particular set up but when it’s on, It’s on and won’t matter that much.

Belly weighted hooks with blades are an absolute nightmare to fish in thick grass, almost impossible to keep clean and once it gets grass on it your lure doesn’t swim right.

I had a great day a month ago on a t rigged reaction innovation skinny dipper, I need to order more. I actually liked t rigging it way more than putting it on a swimbait hook.

What the heck.

That's pretty unique.

I've heard of flipping a swimbait using a heavy texas rig, OP

Skinny dipper Texas rigged with a 3/4 ounce tungsten weight it my favorite punch rig for Lake Chapala bass.  While pitching it in the thick stuff, I occasionally toss it out in the open, and it catches them there too.  The bait tends to run upside down, which freaked me out at first, but the bass don't care.

Not a fan of belly weights...my hookup ratio just sucks with them and they don't come through cover well..

IF you weight it and peg it with no luck, unpeg it.

If still no luck, remove the weight.

If still no luck, throw something else.  : )

I have tried them Texas rigged and didn't have much luck either.  I came to the conclusion that the fatter/solid swimbaits (Keitech Fat Impact,  Rage Swimmer, Mag Freestyle, etc) don't get bit as much with a bullet weight as compared to a weighted hook.  Just a theory.... I think the weighted hook gives it a better center of gravity and also gives it more side to side action. Another way to rig them is to use a wobble head. Can't explain it but it works.
