For casting - has to be my Patriarchs

Pflueger Patriarch Baitcasting Reel PAT71LHLPX 7.11 | Fishing accessories, Clutch gear, Bass fishing lures

Dual braking system, lightweight - and they don't make them anymore :crying-baby-1:

Spinning - a 'cheap' reel - Mitchell Avocet RZT

Mitchell Avocet RZT Spinning Fishing Reel - Walmart.com

Another well made reel - line roller bearing (not bushing) and aluminum spool make this braid ready right out of the box. And it's another reel that's not made anymore :crying-baby-2:

Why do all the good reels get 'retired' by their manufacturers?

Love that Pflueger.

Lews Tournament Pro lfs.

Just spooled a new Daiwa Tatula SV TW that I’ll try out tomorrow, and I suspect it’s just as good as the Lews. At the $200 price point, most reels work flawlessly IME.

TD Zillion is my favorite.  I love all the TD-X and Z reels, this is the best one I have used...so far.

I have a Shimano Curado mgl 70 and a DC. Great reels but know what outcasts them both by a considerable margin and is just as smooth? My Quantum Tour S3. Amazing reel for around $170 on sale at TW right now, which I got for $130 when they really cut the price around Xmas. No idea why this reel apparently got discontinued. Almost never backlashes, and when it does it’s definitely user error. I was gonna get the Shimano MGL 150 for my next reel but gonna get a second S3 instead.

I might go with Curado MGL 150 now even though Ive given different answers in the past. I think it’s sweet spot is with relatively lighter lures and I was not expecting that sweet spot to be as light as it is… still… of ones I own, it’s my favorite. Still kind of looking for a reel that blows me away though.
