11.25 hours on Clearlake CA today.

weirdest spring yet for me.  Bass have been dodgy.  
 

Today, I figured them out.  They are on beds and transitioning on/off.  I was targeting the roaming fish.  They have been heavily pressured with all the fish tournaments behind crammed together before the boat Ramps close for low water levels.  The ramp I used was closed but we moved a few barricades and got our kayaks to water. We were now within kayak distance to my favorite spring area. 
 

Water was clear!  if the fish saw us, they wouldn’t bite.  It took long cast to fool them.  My buddy would spend time with bedded fish and I racked up the numbers with long cast. I got 22 good bass. Mostly 3 lb fish. They were smashing my lizard.

im exhausted.  We fished 11.25 hours.  All I had was an apple and a bag of almonds.  I never expected it to be a marathon.  I had plenty of water.  My friend got 18. Oh what a day. 
 

at the end of the day I tried to skip a baitcaster.  Nope!   Rolled up the backlash.  I also BROKE ANOTHER ROD!   I got snagged in the tule and the tiny sinker hit my rod on the fly.  It broke setting the hook on a three pounder.    still fun! All of it.   I’ll go rod shopping tomorrow.

Sounds like a long day but productive.

I'd willingly break any one of my rods for a 30 fish day right now. Most expensive is only $100 though. Heck, take the Fuego CT with it too.

Flippin' back spasm today while I was.....here it comes.... brushing my teeth. Ya! I've been hiking and working on strengthening and maybe I strained it. Went to emergency....kinda got better on the way there a little. I knew it was coming though, or something. I was pushing too hard maybe. Felt a couple of warning signs recently. I coughed and bang...he's down!

 

But ya, I would love to fish Clear Lake, I never have, but anywhere is fine with me. Delta whateevr. I'm in San Jose but I will drive anywhere. I think you're up North Bay. My kayak is lonely. 100% serious, I need to fish.
