Traveling with Garmin echomap 74 cv

Do I need to keep my Garmin echomap 74 cv turned on while traveling 1600 miles from last location it was used?  Will it find me 1600 miles away if turned off while traveling?  Thanks for any info.

Yes your garmin will find the location  as it has a GPS in the unit.  You'll be fine

Depending on your unit and map programs, you may want to load up the maps for your destination before you go.  One of my biggest complaints about my EchoMap is how long it take to do updates
